The question is, obviously, when 800 series comes out? and how huge will be the leap above the 700 series? I think the first answer will be in late 2014 perhaps Q3 or just Q4 2014. And the second i have no idea...and thats worrying me since i want to upgrade my GTX 660, mainly for TW3.
The 800 series will be out way before then. The question for me is when are the full fat, top-end cards coming? The answer lies in AMD's hands. Nvidia hold back their stuff until they need to release it. We could easily see another 680 scenario and not see the top end Maxwell until well into 2014 imo.

Pirates Islands are 2015 product. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AMD_Radeon_Rx_200_Series

290x reviews, right? I've no idea, you ask boss that. In this case, its actually "new" card. So yeah... its totally silent milking.
7970>7970GHz>(8970oem)>R9 280x ring a bell. I love how people say Nvidia is milking Kepler when AMD has had GCN out on 28nm longer and have had technically 3 generations with it. Who is milking here?

Thanks for pointing that out! But I just really love the term I come up with. "Silent milking". BTW, I couldn't care less who, what, how much milking. (AMD actually lowers prices as they milk though... but whatever)

Thats some serious milking as well.

A clock speed bump and a rebrand, each released at a lower MSRP than the previous card. Titan-780-780Ti-Titan Black = Release $1000 card. Release $650 card with pretty close gaming performance. AMD counters, release $700 card with better performance than Titan. Titan dies. Release Titan Black. They are not even comparable in their milking practices for these particular examples.

Are you seriously comparing GK110 to Tahiti? The proper comparison should be GK104 and the "milking" Let's look at launch MSRP 7970-$550 680-$500 7950-$450 670-$400 7970GHz-$500 7950Boost-$330 770-$400 760-$250 Seems like nvidia lowers prices on refreshes as well Now prices on the high end are high yes but in the states the 290's are as much as 780Ti's

Didn't you bring up the Tahiti GPUs? Why did you suggest those moves were anywhere near what Nvidia has been doing with GK110? GK104 were the same moves, yes. Hawaii is not in the picture here since AMD only released 2 cards, 290 and 290X.

Not the subject here, but nevertheless true.

I don't see why it matters that these companies are reusing the same architectures? If you don't like the performance of the card then don't buy it. Obviously both AMD and Nvidia are going to try to get all it can out of each architecture. They cost upwards of $1B dollars and 4+ years to design/fab. Why the hell would they throw free money away when people are obviously buying enough $1000 GPU's to make them profitable?

Yes GK110 has 4 cards and Hawaii only has two. But keep in mind Titan and Titan black really aren't "gaming" cards they are entry-level compute + epeen. The two gaming cards are the 780 and the 780Ti. This whole last gen has been messed up and that really does stem from the rather weak initial release state of Tahiti. "We expected more from AMD." -Nvidia After that was said all Nvidia did was just keep one upping them as they had the better architecture (for gaming performance). Untill the über drivers that were released late 2012 then Nvidia had to release a proper high end GK110 was finally mature enouph to be sold mass production so along comes 780. The rest we all know. Edit: quick question. Is Pirates Islands going to be just a due shrink or is GCN2.0 getting some updates too?

Yeah both companies are guilty of milking. Took me a lotta milk to get 2 full gk110 chips finally.

The first Titan shoulda been like the 780Ti performance wise, especially the price they were asking for it. In my opinion the Titan and Black edition are the most overated and overpriced Gpu's in modern times. Id rather take a Kingpin than a Titan black. Titan performs well under water with a voltmod however, pretty badass when watercooled.

they are priced that way for the compute power and 6gb of vram. 2 things I got no interest in, but enough people had interest in the titan first time around that they enabled the full gk110 shaders on it and rereleased it as the black

I'm just a bit bored with Kepler. Maxwell looks good even on 28nm. Come on 20nm. (This goes for both AMD and Nvidia)
