Two things people here seem to be forgetting:
1. The GTX 690 is a dual GPU board. The 780Ti is a single-GPU. While that doesn't necessarily make the 780ti worth getting (if you already own a 690), it's actually a lot better than people are giving it credit for.
2. We still don't have benchmarks of the R9 290X with a proper cooling system. We don't know how much more potential that has because of having to down-clock itself due to heat.

290 wins for me this round.
I can get one for £100 less than a 780 ti with a waterblock. No brainer...
and yeah custom coolers will make a difference..

Now its a flooded market plus we have custom pbc 780ti's coming too so who @#$%^^&* knows what to get.
I will try them all and then sell the amd cards ...err i mean keep the cards i like better :giggle2:

From another review
Max OC'ed 780GTX is a little faster then stock 780TI (~ 133fps), now OC 780TI to the max and you get this

So ~ 18fps boost for extra 200€.. Imo 550€ max would be ideal for this 780Ti.
Now I really wonder how custom R9-290 preforms once OC'ed

HOLY SH!T NVIDIA HERE TAKE MY MONEY !!!!

A shame it doesn't have more vram, other than that, it's a monster card. I would really SLI 2 of them, but I'll hold out for the next generation.

Great review, great time for gamers in the market for a new gpu.
I like what I'm seeing here, if I didn't just get a 2nd 7950 a week ago, I would be considering the 780ti very much. Imo for anyone on a gtx 680 or below, this is a nice card, and it's reasonably priced too. It would be a toss up between this and a custon 290 if I was choosing now, the 290 costing around £200 less over here but only performs a fraction worse.
To add to cowie's request, and I did ask this earlier Hilbert, I'd love to see graphics scores added for the 3Dmark benches. If possible.
@Solfaur - you're fine, no need to jump on this, your setup is good for a while 🙂 stop that itch.

@ Hilbert
Any news on 331.70 rls?

Ill stick with my 780 classified sli as I don't see the price difference worth it if your gaming 1600p or under...
thanks for review

Great review, Hilbert. One pays a lot more for the perfomance edge the 780TI has over the 290X, though.

going by the price of this thing custom 290x here I come. But awesome card and good review as always :P
funkiest thing about reading these reviews is how ridiculously fast 7990 is 😀

I currently have 2x5870's, but I'm still using PCIe 2.0, but I want to upgrade to a single card with more VRAM (because my 5870's only have 1GB, and it seems to be causing occasional issues in BF4).
...But I only game at 1080p, and will be doing so for a long time... Would the 290 be overkill? I could probably sell my 5870's for ~$100 each.

Wait to see the price of a 780 ti whit custom colling.

Is NV really that desperate for that crown! :bang: The R9-290X with aftermarket coolers will steps all over the 780TI (few Extreme OC Edition R9-290 will looked back and smile at the 780 series). As spec., the crown is NV, but the real jewel would be the Hawaii series!
Nonetheless, they alls good! There is no such thing as bad GPU, it only bad when reference to value and the price. Gotta give that to AMD!
It's all good to us all. But special thank to AMD for the FU.. PRICES GO.DA.. it!
Have FUN! No, SERIOUSLY! <--Errrggg ... FUN ~ SERIOUS! !@@#$ wtf
