Yeah, nice. The 3400MHz kit will probably cost around 650$ / 600€ I guess, even though I'm going X99, this would be too much for me.

I hate the idea of spending too much with no performance gain. X99 + DDR4 lierally bring nothing to the game. waiting for DDR4 to mature a bit

Which is your opinion. One that could be easily argumented against, but a valid one still. 🙂

Stop talking crap "X99 & DDR4 'lierally' bring nothing to the game". First off, no. Second, maybe in your little gaming world this statement might be true (Its still untrue as even games see increases). Not in other segments of the market however. There is always a need for faster hardware, which if it is indeed faster, most certainly does bring something "to the game". To think otherwise is ignorant & naive. I'm guessing you can't afford X99 and never will so you feel the need to bash on it because you "Don't need it". Do you think I needed X99 coming from my X79 system which I would bet my life on being faster than what you own. *Gasp* yet I upgraded!?! How can this be!?!?

How are short sighted, almost assuredly invalid posts like the one you quoted "valid"? Because its his opinion and no other reason? His post was/is extremely ignorant. Opinions can be wrong. His is. Saying the latest and fastest Intel Chipset and CPU's "bring nothing to the game" is just a stupid thing to say. In every way. There is literally no defending it. Please don't validate this. Big mistake.

nexxusty Why all this excitement in the response man. X99 + DDR4 brings nothing to gaming, as you said in regard to my world which is 1080P + a single GPU. That was my opinion as the gentleman stated above. Some will agree and others will disagree with me. My idea is that I like to see huge performance when upgrading from CPU to another , let alone upgrading Ram. There must be the wow factor when u spend 2000 euro on a pc. Not just 10 % that will result in 10 FPS or non ( sure in regard to gaming )

U know what X99 did for my gaming ?? I can play WoW in 3D maxed while converting MKVs/MP4s to AVI for my plasma without FPS drop !!!! I play games in 3d and difference in MASSIVE coming from 5ghz sandy

Damn! I got 2666 version not too long ago.

That will be expensive, but i'll wait for the x99 i'm saving for 2x 390x 😀

Yeah, there you have it. 1080p and a single gpu is your point of interest. I'm personally looking at 1440p, and dual gpu. Also, it all depends on where you're coming from. My X99 rig coming up will surely wipe the floors in terms of felt performance with my current gaming pc 😉 But, to be honest, I'm fairly sure you won't see such huge boosts from any generation to the next, those days are pretty much gone. Little new technologies are added, so there won't be an incredible performance gain even from Haswell to Broadwell, Broadwell to Skylake and so on... that's why they make hexcores available at Intel, imho, because the per core performance doesn't increase all that much.

I agree with that. It seems the rate of upgrade has been fairly constant for a while now. I'm still using DDR3 so this will be a performance upgrade for me personally, however I wouldn't imagine it would have a superior performance boost between generations like it was back in the 00's decade. It will however be faster at least a little bit otherwise why put it out. Whether or not it's worth the money for such an upgrade depends on each individual's hardware. I would like to point out that you 2 are also fighting over a price that was never listed.

I'm not actually fighting over anything, and not the price. It's just my opinion that X99 and DDR4 do add something, it's just not that huge of a jump from anything newer than two or three years.
