Loophole35:

That memory configuration is going to cripple this card.
It makes sense for it to be far enough below the 5700 and above the 5500, yes.

I have to agree, and I hate to do it. But this card has to have a place in between. AMD, you are not making too much sense now. Lower the 5500, and the 5600 should fit snugly. My 2 cents.

I don't think that memory will be a problem, it just fit the usage of the card.
Silva:

@asturur Instead, its just another Polaris refresh disguised as Navi.
Not at all it IS a Navi, the result on screen is comparable to Polaris because it is the GPU that is intended to replace the left of the old gen (btw nice bargain at 150 / 180 Euro on the RX 580/590 nearly everywhere).
anticupidon:

Price it right, you have a winner. Price it wrong, people will buy Nvidia out of anger and disappointment and better price/performance ratio. AMD, just hope you know how to put a price on that darn thing.
Since the 5700 line is already at low price and that this one is below the 5700 and upper the 5500XT the price range will be interesting compared to 1660Ti... AMD is very agressive on price those days, their teeth have get longer...

192-bit is fine for 1080p and 1440p.

I'm on more about the 12GB/s on the 192bit bus. This card is exactly half the bandwidth of the 5700. Had they used 16 or even 14GB/s memory it would be much better.

There's always the chance you could overclock the memory up to or close to 14GB/s.

This is true but AMD might pull the same crap as with the 5700 and artificially lock the OC.

Maybe the controller isnt capable of this but they probably could have gotten a better deal on gddr5x or even standard gddr5 and kept it at 256bit with 8gb but they might not have been able to segment them enough.

$699 was the 1080ti price tag. Since when $600 is the upper end of buget cards? since when the 5700XT is way below a budget card? I mean guys, yes between a 250$ 5500xt and a 160$ 580 i would probably look for a cheap 590 and then in case buy the 580, but i would not complain about the 5500XT pricing if i consinder 600 still budget cards.
Your Post was about 5500Xt, I talked about 5500Xt, and now you mentioned 5700Xt, why? 5500Xt is way below the high end with its price of $200 ish price.
