$1,000 for 1TB? I hope it's made of gold. For that money you could get two 1TB Samsung SSDs or a 1TB PCIE Intel drive.

1TB SSDs from Samsung are already $380 USD, and I'd consider that affordable considering a year ago they were well over $1,000 USD. So yeah, I'd hope in another year they've dropped at least $80.
