Most likely ES cpu's. No bios updates, no new boards as of yet but you can bet your arse the sheep are going to be eating up leaked benchmarks coming out of China by some obscure Twitter account.

So it has 8P cores w/HT, and 16E cores w/o HT? Seems like a strange combo. o_O Why not have 8P cores w/o HT, and 16E cores with HT? That would give you still high single-treaded performance for gaming, and 40 total threads for multi-tasking. The 8P cores must be ridiculously high frequency, but that means it's going to use crap load of power.

Because the E cores do not have enough execution resources to run 2 threads at the same time. (Or without large performance drop) That's why they're energy efficient. P cores have soo much internal execution resources, you cannot exploit them to their full with only a single thread. No matter how optimised the code. They are effectively like 2 cores merged together with some of the overlapping areas removed to save on power and die space.

So we're going to get 8 cores that use an alarming amount of power for 5.5 GHz clock rates, and 16 cores that can't go beyond 4 GHz with 1/2 the IPC of the big cores... logical intel, very logical...

resources have nothing to do with it, they simply don't have the physical duplication of the op pipes.
