Pretty good. That what microtransations should be about. Get faster progress in Single Player or look good in Multiplayer. No affect on actual game play.

Smart move, don't turn the entire community against you before your game is even released. The concept couldn't really get any simpler but it would have to in order for EA to understand it 😉

So a game that has no ties to Far Cry 4, other then having the same name, and will have a relatively similar gameplay (to be expected since it's a sequel, to expect it to not would be illogical) but completely different story, in a completely different environment, with all new material, is a mod? Well, i guess all sequels ever produced, or games with similar gameplay, are mods now. Interesting messed up logic there bud.

As long as their idea of speeding up the game isn't to reduce grinding (which shouldn't be a thing), I'm in-favor of these types of MTs. I'm still not going to buy them, but I have no problem with them. Ubisoft may be greedy and milk their IPs for every last drop, but at least they seem to legitimately care about not pissing off the majority of their customers.

Depends how you look at it. Far Cry 5 for example, different story? Maybe, maybe not. Different environment? The trees are different, no snow, different vehicles, different wild life to hunt for stuff but not different underneath so not so different after all. Biggest issue though has to be the completely recycled assets from every other game they make meaning that even though Far Cry 5 seems different it actually does nothing new. What does this mean? Nothing, except calling a mod wouldn't be all that wrong but calling a new fresh game would be. Its essentially a copy and paste of assets placed on a different colour canvas. Obvious if you think about it. Also as a final note the games not a sequel.

By that logic, what's there to say different franchises aren't just mods of each other? That's like saying "Cities: Skylines is a mod of Simcity", despite being made by completely different studios, publishers, and engines. They're kinda the same game, even to the point that they share a lot of oddly specific things (like the way zoning works). There are more similarities to those games than there are between Far Cry 3 vs Far Cry Blood Dragon, even though Blood Dragon is almost literally a mod. I'm not sure if FC5 does have a lot of directly recycled resources. I'm sure it involves a lot of recycled code and features, but, that's also why it's part of the Far Cry series and not something else. Why re-write something from scratch when your original code did the job fine? Why change the gameplay when people are intentionally seeking something they're familiar with?

Again, if we were comparing (using the games you chose) Skylines to SimCity then they cant be 'mods' of each other simply down to the use of game engine. Skylines uses Unity whereas SimCity used glassbox. Different game engines means different feature set within the same genre. This however isn't the case with far Cry 5 because it uses the same Dunia engine as Far cry 4 which means that recycling assets can more easily be compared to just creating a mod of a game. This is especially true when the 'new game' actually uses recycled reskinned assets. That said they did add fishing this time.

Final note; I will more than likely buy the game at some point because I don't mind Far Cry games in general but lets all just admit (Ubisoft has no problem doing this) that Far Cry 5 is basically a best of 3 and 4 (forget about Primal) with some fishing thrown in and an AI buddy. Yippee.

something tells me Far Cry 5 is going to be an awesome fun game...

Agree with you there. Its a best of, set in Montana with fishing. Its just too expensive for what it is. I will buy it though at some point just not launch day. Good thing about Ubisoft games is they go on sale really quickly so I won't have to wait too long. 🙂

This game in on my list i just need it to released and to see how the gaming community review it and rate it, No more pre orders for me.

They can shove in loot crap after the release, just like to Wildlands. It amazes me how people quickly forgetting that Ubi is lying all the time. I like their games, even if it's a variation of the same in these days, but i despise their practices.

Sh*t quality footage, not really doing the game any favors that's for sure lol. Game's looking good by other accounts though, so will be very interestings to see how it turns out.
