one question comes to mind !!! if pirates can repack the game to 15 gb ....why not steam also ????? so people with slower connections have less than the half amount of gb to download ?

Unpacking those ripped versions takes a lot of time though that option wouldn't be a bad idea. I'd rather let it take some time to unpack than leave my PC on for downloading. IIRC they even repacked Mad Max to only 4GB because the game repeats a lot of textures lol.

Or just buy it in uPlay Store.

I wanted to buy this game cause love the trailer. But game is so expansive for Asian underdevelop countries. Its cost is equal to my one month pocket money. Many other games come with low prices here.So i downloaded pirated version and enjoying.

i have 17 mbit adsl connection trust me unpacking 15gb to 40 is much faster than downloading 25 extra ...and do not forget for example a lot of people are on datacaps !

Great job, AAA publishers. The pirated versions of your games are the superior ones. Meaning I'd prefer the pirated version even if the legit version was FREE. How the hell did you manage that? Great business sense you've got there.

As many research have shown there are no significant + or - for a AAA game being cracked even more some show more sales early on since most people just want to try the game and if they like it buy it. In an age where game demos don't exist the only way to try the game before buying is to watch some streamer.. which let be frank it's not the same as playing the game. Back in the day I loved demos and they pretty much decided if I buy the game or not. As for the cracking group its [CPY] .

Well, that's what steam refunds are there for, technically, to let you try a game for 2 hours and then you can ask for your money back. At least that's the theory.

That's not the issue. The issue is the price of AAA titles in developing countries that skyrocked up in past few years. Prices are poorly adjusted to incomes, making AAA titles inaccessible. That's why cracks and torrents are coming back in recent years.

Indeed. 5% of my salary is quite a significant chunk for one game, and I'm paid well in comparison to most jobs. I also don't want to pay that much for a game riddled with DRM and which uses uPlay. Nowadays I don't spend more than 20USD on a single game - some really great games available for that price.

I agree, i see no point to have all language audio packs to be installed, it should be optional download.

In developing counties price of AAA titles varies from 5 to 15% of median income. In some countries even higher. Here Far Cry 5 cost 1/12 of median income for Standard Edition, 1/9,5 for Delux and freaking 1/7 for Gold.

Steam figured the whole piracy business long time ago, i.e. in Russia. The piracy simply offers better product then the publisher of the game, as the game is for free, is often a smaller download and there is no hassle with the protection.

Congratulations you filthy pirates on a job well done, but as much as I hate what you're doing, DRM is the spawn of Evil and has to go.

Indeed, but Ubisoft or any other big vdo game company is probably not ready to abandon these multiple layers protection which really piss me off. As soon as the the best sells will be during the very first weeks and that the development investment will be very important, we'll see these DRM other and other again.

33% of South Africa's median monthly income :P

This article is written like the copy protection has "failed" to protect the game while it couldn't be further from the truth. The point is not to keep the game uncracked forever but for some companies it is a success if it does so even for a couple of days. 3 weeks? They are probably ecstatic.
