You guys are idiots if you think the original Evil Dead was a spoof horror movie. I have met both Bruce Cambell and Sam Raimi at a convention years ago and both said they intended the first to be pure horror based and it shows. If there is any comedy elements its because they had a shoe string budget. With the success of the first film they had a much bigger budget and both Raimi and Cambell are big Three Stooges fans and love slapstick which they implemented into the second film as you can see. Remember the first evil dead was banned for years and cut heavily when released. It was a shocking film with over the top gore people were not used to even from the 70's cannibal and zombie films. I think this remake looks awesome. Its got the esseance of the original with a more gruesome and modern twist. I would much prefer a more serious evil dead, even though I love the second one. But thats my point I want a new film and not a shot for shot rehash of the original thats when remakes kill the originals for me.

They intended but that not how it ended up, and wasnt much a spoof as it turned out to be comedic which what made it so great. I still much rather see evil dead 3 with bruce campbell all the movies that have rebooted in recent history have been terrible imo, but that is just me
