Nah, 4000 series will be a success - it's the massive amount of 3000 series cards that nvidia expected to sell to miners, which cant be sold now, that is the problem.
The massive 3000 series stock is why I suspect 4000 prices will be sky high until that stock is somewhat depleted.

dGPU market is shrinking as a whole, better to cash out now and sit tight for a few years.

Will EVGA make AMD video cards? *edit* Watched the video... yeah.. wow.

Possibly the whole shortage of chips was really what burned out EVGA, and the lack of Nv support during that time, most likely EVGA already know the next round will be more of the same and decided to bail.

Yeah, it rally does sound like Nvidia doesn't go out of their way to help out or make things easier for partners. I'm still wondering if Nvidia is going to try and take more of the market with their reference boards.

Oh dear , i never saw that one coming 😳 . I feel bad for my friend Vince 🙁 , he relocated to Taiwan from Detroit MI. in order to work at evga , i think he will come back to USA since he got his own bussiness. I believe is nvidia greed and overwelming tight grip on board partners that made this happen. Sad to see the evga company go this way , best in class rma and customer support here in N. America bar none...

This means people won't be buying the 4000 series, thus staying on store shelves and costing shops money. What do you do when it's not selling, you lower the price. Seeing more price changes again here in Aus, you can get a 3080ti BRAND NEW for $1200 now which is just below MSRP. They are still struggling to sell the 3000 series, maybe they need to make a subscription plan like the phones do? haha

Not according to this.
By analyzing sales on eBay and StockX, data engineer Michael Driscoll estimated that scalpers have sold approximately 50,000 Nvidia GeForce RTX 3000 series cards for a total of more than $61.5 million in sales.

Can I get a timeframe (that was most likely when crypto was booming), price, used or brand new, personal accounts vs business accounts? Do remember shops sell on eBay as well, hell that is prob were a lot of their sales come from. But without the rest of the data, it doesn't mean much when I see overstock in a lot of Aussie stores. Edit - Just looked at the article, yeah Jan 2021... When crypto was booming. Show me something in the last 3 months because it's done a total flip.

To summarize. Nvidia cards were sold at base price.

Oh yeah, they made a killing thanks to crypto, the majority of that was from China as well. We had MSI selling directly to china miners even cards that never went to market the 3080 20gig version. Now with profit margins at near to nothing if not at loss I don't expect anything like 2021. What you could mine at and get 0.70 cents is now only worth 0.05 cents, even with a 4090 only expect 0.25 max prob. Just wait till all these 3000 miner cards hit the 2nd hand market, all their cards will be at a 75% discount. Edit - Just looked on eBay for 3080.. 2000+ cards and I see pre-owned starting at $350 USD. I have never seen an Nvidia card current gen for that price ever. Looks like its starting already. 😀

This is why we need a PC revival of some sorts. Consoles play games but PC's offer so, so much more.

This is why people quoting 4*** series card prices as gospel are talking shite, if the AIBs dont know, how can Chad based in his mum's basement know.

This news seems a little shocking when, merely a year ago, video card MFGs could seemingly print money by simply releasing any GPU. It's too bad (for gamers) that the GPU front has been such a dumpster fire the last few years. The CPU side has been fantastic during that time after kind of a "meh" period. With NVME drives and such, it could have been a golden era for new builds.

The only company responsible for losses on products is itself. EVGA thought they were selling products to ADHD children. Don't be so extra

Sad times, especially for USA where EVGA was really, really popular.

oh man.. some news.. have always been super happy with my EVGA cards. i would love to see some FTW Radeon in the future, so i hope someone at AMD headquarters will see this opportunity. either way i hope EVGA will stay around and won't reach a no return point.

Sad, although the writing has been on the wall with EVGA all but pulling out of the European market a couple of years ago. I had EVGA cards since the mid-2000s, except for the latest couple of generations where I wasn't able to get my hands on an EVGA card here in Europe. They used to have the best customer service and warranty, too. Sad. I wish they'd go with AMD and Intel GPUs in the future, but it looks like they are seriously scaling down their business. RIP EVGA. 🙁
Glottiz:

It will be a massive success and cards sold out for months.
Of course they will be sold out, not only because Nvidia already hinted to their shareholders that they are going to create artificial scarcity for the chips/cards so they can drive prices up since it worked so well last generation (it wouldn't surprise me if that was also a factor to EVGA pulling out).

Just saw it. Wow ! Why do I have a feeling RTX 4000 series will be a huge massive failure ?
No. They said that "Nividia has a good product". Also they said that they will not make AMD or Intel based cards so no reason to speculate here. They suggested that they can't do with Nvidia forcing prices drop with their own founders edition cards - they are losing money and can't compete - only by creating a substandard product and they don't want that. My guess is that Nvidia wants to force low prices on new 4000 series - the margin for profit will be very low for partners and with mining craziness dispersing in the smoke because of energy prices their revenue will suffer - basically they want Nvidia to adapt to this new situation because until now they kind of "live with it" making good money from selling cards for mining and EVGA had a big piece of that pie. On the other hand Nvidia doesn't want to change anything in its relationship with partners and probably Nvidia doesn't want to accept higher prices for graphic cards from its parteners.
