Have to say, it's very cool that its a true single slot design. Cant really do that on many cards the days with the I/o ports often encroaching on both slots.

Agreed. It'd be nice if we had the option to remove a port or two that perhaps wouldn't be used, and switch to a single slot width. Would allow someone to build a micro ATX rig and still do triple SLI. Hell you'd be able to do a traditional SLI without blocking any PCI-E slots

I dont understand amd... How can they release an enthusiast gpu that comes water cooled and runs below 50c and not bother to make sure that reviewers can overclock it.

Why is everyone saying its not overclockable? The core is overclockable, the memory isnt which doesnt matter.. The card has plenty of memory bandwidth, overclocking the memory will reap zero benefits.

Because +75 MHz on default clock it`s not really overclocking.

The reviewers can overclock it up to the limits of CCC's native overclocking implementation. CCC does not expose voltage control to the user on any card. When reviewers are adjusting voltages they use a program like MSI Afterburner. Being a third party program, AMD has no involvement in its development. Fury has a new voltage controller. Once the 3rd party programs are updated to know how to control the controller, overclocking should be a lot more potent.

Very true but at current price nvidia took the cake with 980ti. I had high hopes with fury X, I will still wait a month before i upgrade.

Probably due to the lack of voltage control, which is a massive gaffe on AMD's end.

Yeah but past AMD cards have shown voltage OC is a hit or a miss, usually the latter in my experience.

I would say they are going to be able to overclock further, but the power consumption is likely to go thru the roof. I'll be happily surprised if the clocks go way higher, I just don't expect more than 1300, maybe stable for a lot of Fury X's, with extra Voltage. Look at all the 390/X overclocks in the reviews. The power consumption goes up by quite a lot. Fury/X is the same fab process, larger chip, more shaders, same speed.

Was CCC used in OCing in review? I would think since the Voltage control is new, third party software may not function properly ....needing updates.

I dont consider it an overclock until that voltage had been ramped up, there's very little overclock headroom at stock voltages.

BTW, this waterblock doesn't belong on the fury X, it belongs on the Fury without The X for 550$

No one cares about power consumption when overclocking. You don't care how much gas a car uses if you build it up to drag race. No one that drag races is using a Prius.

I'm pretty sure we'll see an improvement with voltage control, but as you say it can be hit or miss depending on how much of a gain we'll see. I'd love to see a big improvement, but I suspect these cards are already close to maxed out. Shy of LN2 and benchmarking I doubt we'll see anything special going forward tbh.
