Have you seen the latest FIFA? 😀
No I haven't but I am not surprised. Madden might be next.

Madden already has it in MUT along with "Loot Boxes" problem is most people that play Madden are the kind that spend $20 on lotto tickets twice a week.

Well by them removing the Loot boxes in the first place really broke the game as it left with a huge gap that made no sense at all.
I would argue all they had to do to fix that was make it so you had to earn the loot boxes via achievements. Get 15 kills in a game, get a lootbox. Be on the winning team 3 times in a row, get a lootbox. Single-handedly defeat a hero while you are not playing as one, get a lootbox. These are the kinds of things that make games fun, and pushes players to get better or else get left behind. It's the sort of thing where people see your equipment and respect you for it, rather than feel like "might as well give up at this point". But.... The problem is it's too late to do that for this game. It would anger the people who already paid for their heroes, since they may have had a better chance of earning them for free.
Also I feel that any PC game that has a form of gambling such as loot boxes and you need real money to purchase it should have an automatic Adult only rating by the the Software rating board that does for each country such as the ESRB for the States because in some places the legal Gambling age is 21.
That, or M rated. Good idea though - for some games, such ratings will cripple sales. Some companies will go as far as to change the color of blood just to bring the rating down a notch. If gambling automatically sets a game to M as a minimum rating, we'd likely see gambling disappear in most games.

Just don't buy any games that require microtransactions etc...

Not surprised that they are putting them back in because the game was made with them in mind. What's next EA pulling a 2K and start putting Mircotransactions in their Sports games. I agree games with gambling aspects should be held to higher standards like a minimum age of 21 and the algorithms that reward random loot for real money should be certified by a gambling commission along with posting the percentages of receiving items. If they want to do this im fine with it but it should be tightly regulated when you are gambling with real money.

I don't either, but what does "require" mean? You don't need cosmetics, afterall. I'm perfectly fine with offering cosmetic rewards in loot boxes or through micro transactions, its just the way the world works now. Let them make money from people that have that to spare, and everyone else can just play the game. Money or excessive random luck should just not impact your "power" in the game, thats a big no-no. I can basically just ignore cosmetics, or in the case of loot boxes even be excited to get some good looking one just for playing the game as an additional reward - but I'm not throwing money at it, and since its all cosmetic, I don't have to either (to stay competitive, anyway).

EA and DICE will never change.
DICE were fine until EA started making it mandatory for them to have micro-transactions in their games. Think back to BF2 and BF2142 etc. All you paid for back then were DLC's which gave new modes and maps.

Weird, its okay when Valve does it but bad when EA does it. I'm not defending EA, just pointing out hypocrisy.
Yeah somehow Valve managed to fly under the radar with the whole lootbox fiasco last year yet the comical thing is they have been doing this longer than anyone else has and they have some seriously sketchy gambling (and they are gambling) websites that have cropped up as a result of the lootbox economy present in CSGO. On a side note I find it funny that EA claimed they couldn't add skins to the game last year because they believed that no one wanted a 'pink Darth Vadar' yet some how they have now found a way to add skins, I am guessing when it comes to keeping the shareholders happy they can do whatever is needed.

I'm not really aware of what CSGO's lootbox system is like, but the primary problem with EA's is they made it blatantly apparent that you are expected to buy them. There's a difference between paying to speed up your progress vs paying because it's practically the only way you're ever going to get anywhere. I'm not saying I approve of the former, but assuming that's how CSGO works, it's less "offensive". Also, are those websites supported by Valve? A lot of games have sketchy sites associated with them but that doesn't mean they're promoted by the company. Furthermore, CSGO, to my knowledge, has always been a relatively cheap game, making MTs less of a slap in the face.

I thought it was modders who added the pink skins, out of spite?

DICE are in on it, stop defending them, they're a part of EA.

I do not support any gambling in PC games other than random bonuses gained through actually playing game. I do not mind paying for visual differentiation, but gambling is just hurting human personality. And last thing I want is kids being used to gambling before they have ability to properly calculate odds.
Adults freely walk into casino's n toss there money away, I think if a kid is online and has the option to purchase a game(there is already an issue going on). no one forces adults to toss away hard earned money for nothing but they seem to love doing it. If i had a kid he certainly wouldn't be online with the option to purchase stuff, games YES.

True, I suppose, even though I've never played these games. Other games have been doing it for a long time as well. However, I guess the Star Wars IP is more mainstream and not limited to the PC either (although many games have employed similar practices on consoles as well), so there's more eyes on the product with Battlefront II and thus more fuss is created.

They actually had skins implemented from the start. Some were pre-order boni, like The Last Jedi Themed looks for Rey and Kylo Ren. And recently they had a timed event where people could Unlock Luke Skywalker's Hoth skin.

Something like that has actually available in the game from start already. They have Milestones you can reach that grant rewards, ranging from loot boxes to credits (which you can buy hero unlocks and loot boxes with). Plus timed challenges that are only active for a limited time. I guess it just doesn't feel like enough to be fun enough. Plus, the loot boxes you get are still random, so you can get duplicates or things you aren't really looking for which can be rather frustrating to some people.

Yup. Slap a higher rating on games that include gambling with real money and software companies will shy away from such practices pretty quickly (unless the game is already rated that high due to other content, that is). But also, in areas where gambling is illegal, gambling like this in games should be as well. If these areas are big enough markets, companies will think twice before implementing such gambling mechanics, too.

I bought a shed load of Rocket League keys to open all my boxes. I'm so unlucky that i never even won a single car or any of the good stuff. I'm done with gambling on these shit loot boxes. I was addicted to the bling but i believe the rolls are rigged so i gave up and now just swap boxes for keys. At least with Rocket League a % goes back into the pro community and even support for college funds. I highly doubt EA would do the same, it's greed pure and simple.

To my knowledge, everything you win in Rocket League is purely cosmetic, so why does it matter? And yeah, different cars have different hitboxes, but I'm not aware of anyone who found a way to abuse this.

Same with Overwatch for instance. Never heard of a single complaint about the nature of how to achieve such a cosmetical extra.

Are people still thowing their money at companies the minute they drop a unfinished broken 50 quid game that has a 40 quid season pass and is filled with lootcrates and microtransactions, well i guess some just love throwing good money away. Lol

No they are not supported by Valve but by the same measure Valve has done nothing to stop them despite stating any number of times that they intended too, end of the day Valve may not get the money from the sites directly but they do get some money as a result of them through other indirect means which no doubt goes a long way to explain why they keep saying they will do something about them but actually never do... then again this is Valve who constantly say they will do stuff and never do so I am guessing no changes there then. The issue though is not that their are MTs in the game (it's still a premium game that you pay money up front for so shouldn't have ANY MTs in it but that's another topic) it is that the MTs are lootboxes, you pay a non fixed fee (just look at some of the prices for limited edition lootboxes in the game) and you are given a chance to win a skin that through reasons I can only explain as 'artificial scarcity' could be worth a huge amount of money to someone stupid enough to pay for it. It's a form of gambling like every other lootbox and as I said while everyone else seemed to be getting huge amounts of sh*t for it last year Valve somehow managed to stay under the radar, despite being one of the first companies to introduce the system. You want to see a lootbox system done right? Look at Borderlands, the core mechanic was about lootboxes and they were ALL provided in game from the initial purchase price, you had one additional lootbox in BL2 that could be opened with golden keys that were obtained through media releases but as far as I am aware you were never able to pay real world money to get access to one of these golden keys (feel free to correct me if iam wrong on that fact)
