Why is the first thing comming to my mind some dirty, rugged man running around screaming "They released the Kraken!" I should watch less movies and game more. Gamestreaming... not sure I'm a fan of that concept tbh. Can work, but certainly not for every game / genre... wouldn't want to play any (competitive) multiplayer shooter via game streaming like it is today. I'm not sure if the companies think this will be the future, can't see it work too well for such games, casual / single player games on the other hand might be streamable.

They would've been better off bribing more youtubers/twitch streamers because that's the only form of "game streaming" that's going to be around for a long time.

A streaming service that nobody uses. Nice. I love it when EA wastes money

Oh boy. You're new to the internet me thinks. It works very well and has for years already. You see there's this thing called Twitch. Many people make a living doing it. I myself stream on twitch and have a small following and have also made a little bit of money. Get with the times dude! 😀 Thankfully people who think "not sure this will work" are wrong. Oh so very very wrong. In fact Multiplayer games are WAY more popular on twitch than single player games.

I think you talk about different things. Streaming what you play to other people is nothing new or exciting. It's just a fancy video recording of your screen. Obviously you can record anything and competitive games are more interesting to watch, but the concept doesn't deal with any issues of latency as they are not important, because you play your game on your computer. On the other hand streaming games, as is described in the article, where a game runs on a server far away and you just control it from your potato PC at home have many problems. As both latency and bandwidth requirements are quite strict for enjoyable experience.

If they can make it as good as GeForce Now. Seriously i'm impressed how there's not much input lag, it feels like having vsync on but slightly better. I already purchased a dirt cheap i3 mini PC to use it and play games on my TV. Gamefly can be installed on my TV, but the input lag was just bad and it streamed at 720p i believe. I'm excited if EA can make it cheaper and make it perform as good as NVIDIA's solution.

EA cutting out the middle man and just buying a dead company, now they don't have to waste money on the bullet. Very forward thinking, bravo

EA might bring Origin Access merge into Gamefly Access lol.

They likely did their math. Checked their client base and found out that average account owner has pretty mediocre PC. Otherwise they would be stupid to think that someone with half decent PC will pay for streaming service.

It seems EA has grown bored of killing off gaming franchises, so now they're hoping to kill off services too. Not like I really care, I never had any interest in Gamefly.

I know that publishers are all looking to turn games in to live services but it looks like EA literally ARE going to turn games in to live services.

I feel like you don't know what gamefly is.... It's a game streaming service, not a streamer service. AKA people play games on someone(gameflys) computers and streams said game directly to their own computer. This obviously has lag, and really the only benefit is, you can play high end games on basically nothing computers. Overall, it's a step forward for what is capable, but a step backward for what people want.
