I use 'daily' build. Actually it's an ICL13 build, which by the compiler is compiled every 4 days. Current version is v1.6.6.6375. It's great when combined with MADVR (currently v0.85.3), and can be combined with shaders in MPC-HC (although the internal shaders are pretty basic, I add in some other shaders such as a sharpening filter). By using MPC-HC, MADVR, AC3Filter, FFDshow Audio Processor (which can be added in) and setting it up properly, you have by far the best video quality and audio quality of any media player, at least I think so. The absolute minimum I would recommend is MPC-HC and MadVR.

I wondered why K-Lite always bundled builds later than officially released. I haven't had the time to test add-ons but I'm off work from Wednesday so plenty of time then.

If you guys want to try 'daily' builds, go here. Compiled straight by one of the devs. For madVR, go here. My personal preference for external splitter/decoder is LAV Filters; get it here. And for the best & fastest softsub rendering, get xy-VSFilter. With MPC-HC and those additional three (with madVR being actually optional), you don't need any codec packs. Ever.

Agree MPCHC is an excellent all-in qone solution for movies and easy general playback of more or less anything. Used it for years. But "best audio quality"? Not even close. For that, check out Foobar 2000 with WASAPI output enabled. Like night and day. Foobar's clunky though, and this isn't.

You can actually use WASAPI on MPC-HC via ReClock.

Will download the 32 and try it out anyway but always liked the MPC 64 version (I know it doesn't make any "difference" in the real world, but you know what I mean?)

I were in your shoes, where at one point didn't really give a crap on 32-bit version of apps anymore. But when there's just no 64-bit madVR, I had to give in. =b

Although MadVR is optional, it's a very good option. Lower CPU use and better picture etc 🙂.

If anything madVR actually adds CPU use. It still doesn't have proper hardware acceleration support so it doesn't offload most of its processing to the GPU.

does it do 60fps yet? I use Splash now only...cause of that. 60fps on ALL movies 😀 except bluray discs...till they release that one 😀 Progressive is a MUST.

yes it does. you just have to set ip up right. using madvr, lav filters and reclock here..in fullscreen exclusive mode its allways 60hz/60FPS...ok i lied, its actually 75hz'/75FPS.. http://www.abload.de/img/unbtzenanntbbul0.png also there are new quality features in madvr and finally a custom color range option..FTW

or just use potplayer 🙂. I like MPC-HC but i use XBMC/Potplayer and aimp2 for music sooo, no slot for it :/.

what u mean? its 75hz/fps on that test picture cause i played it on my CRT Monitor set at 75hz atm..if i would use teh player on my HDTV it would do 60/60,,, and yes, its real 60FPS /HZ... should it be fake? what u mean exactly

dunno if its fake when i use splash or windows media player (not classic) i see 60fps, but the movie is still the same quality. when i install SVP i clearly see a difference and the picture is really 60fps. (it converts is from 24fps to 60fps) so 60 fps isnt always 60fps if you know what i mean lol

ahh, i get it.. yes i have real 60/60... its converting it as u say with reclock i guess..even without reclock its working via madvr..
