LOL! i mean really why in hell would anyone buy this p.o.s. - even for productivity? the dell/alienware oled is vastly superior for less money and is calibrated out of the box

the OLED panel is only 34" whereas this one has a little more size to it I have the Alienware 38" (probably the same panel as this one in many ways) and I wouldn't go back - that extra bit of space is important to me that being said - if they ever release an OLED 38" i'll sell my soul for it

jebus - 60 hz is less than half of what i would call a minimum amount haha

I do agree, 60hz is slow for just even normal computing task. 75hz is more then sweet for that. But I still have to laugh at the insanely ignorant comments I constantly see on ultrawides and superwide monitor news post. Its late 2023 and we still have people in the dark on here. And ultrawides been officially around for over 8 years now...........

A 60Hz UW1600P IPS for $1.3K? I want whatever drugs their marketing department are on. It doesn't matter if it's for "productivity", it's not 2002 anymore, they can't justify that price. Color accuracy good enough for work isn't some rare and expensive thing anymore and it hasn't been in a long time.

If they could make OLED 38.5'' 1600p it would be golden with additional vertical space compared with 34'' oleds everywhere Whats the point if Dell already has the same specs on AW3821DW with LG panel 38GL950-B IPS. As i understand they doesnt make 38.5'' OLEDS, because they cannot cut 38.5'' panel from master material in equal sizes without making big wasted material for OLEDS or maybe they doesnt want to, because someone in marketing department decided that 45 - 49 '' ultrawide with 1440p will be way to go and can be divided for more panles and profit.

I've been waiting for the OLED "38 inch version a long time now (especially because 3840p x 1600p was looking to be the perfect size with 21:9 "4K" movies. Meanwhile during my wait: the movie industrie has been making all sorts of ultra-ultrawide turns featuring odd aspect ratios to keep luring people into cinemas series, Netflix and competitors, have been pushing 16:9 content and everything inbetwee, again exceeding the 1600p vertical axis in 4K content my personal desires are again outgrowing market availability, and find myself more leaning towards 40"+ 2160 @ 21:9 monitors as an upgrade. All in all, my desire to have no black bars watching content, OCD for raw 1:1 pixel overlay, and productivity needs have trainwrecked my intial hopes for the monitor you mention.

And then there's this weirdo like me who, despite all I wrote above, is still camping out on a 60Hz FHD 27" monitor today, doesn't notice anything wrong with 60Hz, having deliberately avoided using too high refresh rates for the last decade, as I am afraid it will again up my hardware requirements and most problematically, a videocard that can somehow push AAA games on 5040p x 2160p without comprimising on graphic setting on high refresh rates.....

Dell need a reality check.

you're framing this personally and that's ok - buy for your needs. however i sincerely doubt you're looking at spending $1300 to stay within the constraints of your existing system. even at half the price this Dell is outdated and overpriced (tbh, ultrawides have a premium, but still) and honestly for that $1300 if it was from your pocket, i'd advise a new gpu and a new midrange monitor

Life has been a bit intense the last 5 years and my PC with its ancient GTX970 (yes rly) has not seen any gaming in the meantime. Next upgrade should be big, and will be very expensive. Most of the system should be okay, I'm on a 3800x with a water cooling loop waiting to be installed, which I intent to also use for the next GPU. A few weeks from now, I'll swap my current FHD 27" with the 28" 2560p x 1440p from the 2nd home as an intermediate upgrade. Given 90% is productivity and 10% media consumption, it should be fine till I can get my hands on the aforementioned ultrawide whenever something compatible gets launched, and hopefully pick up videogames again. Still not sure if I should red-pill >60Hz myself though. Once I get used to higher frame rates, I'll probably forever be annoyed with 23fps movies, shitty monitors at work and my GPU not having the muscle to push ~11 million pixels that high... Thank you for listening in on my oversharing.

Technically this is more of an office monitor. That's why it basically has a docking station built in. So with a single cable connection to a laptop your connected to the display, 90watts charging, Ethernet port for wired internet and USB ports connected to all sorts of various crap.

lol i overshare constantly:p don't think of 60Hz+ as the matrix - it just means greater clarity, even if you're streaming sports. 23/24fps movies will still look the same (actually better as film industry color standards are more widely adopted on new monitors). i don't play shooter games where the die hard fps fiends live, i have to say everything looks betteron monitors from the last five years as technology really has gotten better and less expensive. i do a lot of productivity (i have a dedicated pc with a 1440p "fast" ips monitor 3 years old) and i have an entertainment/gaming pc with a s.o.t.a. OLED 4k panel (which you don't need) the great news is panels like my 3 year old one are perfect for you and are very affordable for when you decide to move on from your 28". a dirty little secret is there are far more brands than manufacturers, and ads cost the consumer at retail. you can often find the same thing with a price differential of 30% or greater;) in the meantime you have a plan and it's a good one
