Do they have air cooling for gen5 that isnt obnoxious, loud and ugly? Its alot harder to find and upgrade to gen5 then it was with gen4.

I`m thinking the same. Are there any good gen5 M2.SSD drives that don`t require active cooling?

No sadly every gen5 m.2 will have active or in this case water cooling. It would probably overheat running it with a passive cooling like gen4.

A quick check on the German Corsair site says 1TB for ~ € 230, 2TB for ~ € 380, both with the air cooler. I didn't check for shipping costs though. The waterblock only seems to be available for the 2TB model, same price as with the air cooler. Without any cooler (e.g. using the mainboard's ones), the 1TB model is advertised for ~ € 210, the 2TB for ~ € 355.

No reason to be an early adopter of these gen5 nvme m.2 ssd`s whatsoever. No game would benefit from either read or write speeds. Maybe in some kind of enterprise server solutions, people would benefit from the glorious speed bump over 4th gen. But as of now, for us gamers, it's useless basically, paying extra premium price for something you can have for a as much as 1/4 the price of a 1TB or 2TB 4th gen equivalent

This is something solely for the pros that need that kind of speed for whatever workflows require it. I couldn't saturate my 3rd gen drives, have never come close to the max throughput of my 4th gen, I wouldn't even know what to do with 5th.
