If the case allowed the PSU to be located centrally or towards the windowed/opening side of the case then the cables could be routed nicely behind a MOBO tray with plenty of space to coil up excess cable, but on a narrow case this might be tricky. Cube cases might work well.

Really a good idea, i hope they create a whole line of PSUs with this feature.

as long as it doesn't become the standard or come with melty connectors I suppose

If the cables come out on the backside behind the motherboard tray a lot of cases will be able to get those puppies no problem , so as far they are not getting too squeezed etc those would be great!

That would be perfect for the O11D series

Looking at how things are arranged in my 5000D, these would have the plugs facing me when I open the plexiglass side of the case. That would make plugging and unplugging things way easier. Not that you should have to do that often, but it's still better than working in a cramped space. I'm all for it.

PSU designed this way could be brings interesting cable management solution for dual-chamber design cases.
Would work well in my Tj07 , would mean there is a little less clutter in the lower chamber where i have a 360 rad

Next evolution will be with cable backward 🙂 More on topic if the PSU vent is up, then the cables connectors are all on the wrong side... This idea isn't as good as the Seasonic connect PSU for relocate the connectors.

There are people that prefer more compact PCs you know.
bringing more large PC cases is all but getting a compact PC.

Nice to have options. I am sure more options will be coming.

If that's the case, this psu is forcing the exact opposite. Coming out the back of the psu makes for a more compact build unless you are going to turn the psu sideways, which then defeats the whole purpose of putting them on the side.

With the fan facing downwards it will directly have the plugs on the back tray side as far the 2~3 cm of cable management space is enough for it , it makes cable management easier adding new cables if needed is trivial , and your cables do not get crammed against the hard disk tray. Now if we need to widen the case to accommodate for this , then yes I 100% agree with you.

Yeah i was just thinking that too.

Modular PSU's are great but often the biggest let down is the flexibility of its wiring cables. This is a nice idea, just hope it comes with super flexy cables.

I wondered about this a long time ago but didnt think it would happen, some cases dont have openings where the wires would exit. Perhaps I'm wrong with modern cases and there is a standard for the opening? To prevent sharp cable bend, 90 degree connectors can be used on at least some of the sockets although exit route space could be a little tight for some. It would be a nice idea for the sockets plate to be recessed inside the PSU a little if standard connectors remain in use.
