I'm not sure if the plastics of the plugs aren't rated beyond 105°C anyway...

Just get a bigger case or mount vertical.

Or we just don't use this connector at all. I have a vertically mounted GPU, rather large case and I won't touch the 4 series with this connector.

I would avoid going over 200W TDP GPUs anyway so I'm safe.

youd think they would have made it have rgb.

No question that I have 'some worry' about cable tension and even with my oversized RTX 4090 in a EATX C700M enclosure. So a 12VHPWR 180 degree adapter sounds reasonable. But please spare me the CORSAIR logo. Perhaps other better choices and connector innovations will be soon available as well!

Somebody just told his co-worker "hold my beer" and is actively trying to put a mini OLED screen on this for 150$.

or just stop making this shit useless big gpus and bad designed connectors. yes, a connector that cannot be used without issue by a user in REAL LIFE (so no open air lab) is BAD design. Also vertical mount is less effective in heating and takes even more space in a case.

There are smaller GPUs, just learn to measure and pick a card that fits your case. People are the problem, not the products.

umm no both the product and some people are the problem. the reality is most people - even those who buy 4090's - do not replace their case or system, y'know, upgrading. when Nvidia puts a physical monstrosity with new power connectors on the market there will be problems. i have posted (ranted?) that Nvidia should have consulted with major pc peripheral makers (as many make both cases and psu) before they released three slot - let alone four slot - gpu's. that way there could have been a synchronized release of a new ecosystem for high end Nvidia cards. but we know Nvidia is too arrogant for that blaming the folks who shell out enough money for a used motorcycle is not the answer. look to the source. and fyi - there aren't any "small" rtx 4090, some just less huge

High-end GPUs have been 130mm wide for a couple years now, long before the 4090, and no one complained while the 3x 8-Pin was in the same location.
data/avatar/default/avatar22.webp
3pin x8 always allowed and 95% of high end gpus in the last 10 years never reached similar dimensions of the 4090. The 4090 dimensions themselves also require longer cables, and to achieve that with most PSU users also need those damn cable extensions that also rise even more such burning issues..

umm, no i did and so did every other SFF aficionado and it took over a year for case makers to adapt

i feel i have to mention that only two of those models (2080 strix & matrix) will fit in a small number of ITX and most of those gpu's have trouble fitting in compact ATX and mATX cases only tower and specialty cases fit those gpus without modifications and even in a run-of-the mill mATX case that fits the legth of some of those, heat/airflow are major issues try looking at owner's fora btw this is a major reason i bought AMD 6900xt/7900xt
