Always funny to see all those kids complaining about power consumption as if their parents are not ones paying the electric bill...
It's guru3d. Most people posting here are adults paying their own bills i would say. Kids watch videos and such they don't read anymore (providing they can read).

Interesting Development, apparently alderlake does actually support avx-512, its just disabled in firmware , some of the motherboards have an option to enable it in the bios. via anantech

what about DDR5 vs DDR4, how it compares in video games and all the rest, maybe its worth to get DDR4 board and keep our ram

Haha power usage goes BRRRRRRRRRRR.

The cold winter has begun and this chip will help with the house/flat heat at least. That's a lot of watts for a cpu. Looks like a great cpu but it's gonna need a decent cooler that's for sure. I doubt an air cooler could remove that 300-400w of heat very well. Plus they have left AMD with a pretty easy score to beat. I believe Zen3+ will match this and may even slightly beat it.

Dang ! All the 2d and 3d world records have fallen at hwbot , every single one of the benchmarks alder lake beats everything else , fast little devil. Now is AMDs turn to crank up the knobs with 3d Vermeer refresh . Loving the competition ! https://hwbot.org/

I can't make head nor tail of that site... no idea what the various tables and "rankings" are showing. Terrible.

Dude , that's competitive overclocking website , if you have been living under a rock for the last 20 years then i do understand why you think is terrible , rofl ...

now get a faster DDR5 with better timing and OC the hell out of it - the performance will be insane...

LOL this has to be satire, right? That's a pretty bold assumption and gross generalization. Nobody here is complaining about having to pay more on electricity, it's negligible unless you're running a crypto farm (in which case you can go stuff yourself). The real gripe people have is heat associated with such components.
shows you know nothing - its not black and white - the heat distribution / max temp / and how easy it is to cool the CPU it not always represented by the power consumption - Rocket Lake drew tons of power but it was significantly cooler and easier to cool than my 5950x... the casual attempt to associate TDP and the actual max temp is common mistake of clueless people...

Such a ram costs more than z690 motherboard. Not worth imo.

from kitguru
https://www.kitguru.net/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/memory-aida-bandwidth.png
this is kind of surprising, even in a pure synthetic, the ddr5 at 5200 isn't getting that much more bandwidth than the 4400mt/s ddr4 its only about 8.5% in reads (most important) , and 13% in writes, despite being clocked %18 faster.
https://www.kitguru.net/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/memory-aida-latency.png
the latency is not good, considering the 4400mhz ddr4 kit appears to be running in gear2 as well.

More reviews showing z690 + ddr4 euqals z690 + ddr5 , ddr4 most of the times gives higher fps on games than ddr5 and this is using ddr5 6000Mhz versus ddr4- 3200Mhz. ddr5 needs to mature a little longer to match ddr4. Strictly for gaming go for ddr4 as ddr5 does not make a difference ...
Why is the opposite here, DDR5 wins in some games by SERIOUS numbers like 10+ FPS a difference of something like going from non TI to TI version of some cards https://www.anandtech.com/show/17047/the-intel-12th-gen-core-i912900k-review-hybrid-performance-brings-hybrid-complexity/12

Incorrect , absolutely not true. You are overexagerating there bro , calm down. ddr5 7000Mhz is the absolute max speeds for now and is not even out yet , have to wait a few months for it and it wont make a lick of difference. I will show you my own testing ddr4 max oc at ddr4-5033Mhz versus ddr5-7000Mhz oc max 7400Mhz. Micron nor Samsung are the best ram for overclocking this round , it is Hynix 😉 for ddr5. For ddr4 Samsung B die still king I cannot give you more information at the moment as i'm under nda for some unreleased hardware that will soon be out and will top the overclocking charts. hence i'm out and wont comment anymore. But you are completely wrong on your statement.

I doubt anyone with a decent CPU from last 3 years is going to notice blistering performance differences in daily usage from what they currently have. For practical purposes, Alder Lake is not going to be a huge upgrade for them. But for those who love to see and compare their benchmark runs, they will be delighted.

Honestly, according to Hilbert's benchmarks, the 12600K is the real gaming winner here...

It doesn't make sense because it's more expensive. When the price will come down in a few years then it will be a no brainer. At worse it's a few % behind ddr4 but when it's better it's like lot better. But at the price it's currently sol at yeah doesn't make much sense specially since there's a big chance the current motherboard wont be able to handle the speed of future ddr 5 memory kit.
