Infinite power (consumption)

if this can beat 5950x in single core on 14nm that is impressive gonna be a gaming beast multi is weak, might be lower turbo,or just the way 11th gen is.very fast in single, mediocre in multi.I'd take that provided the price is right.

Never thought I'd say this.....but I hope it is good...really good. We've all seen what absolute power does without lack of competition. Everybody jumps on the 'greed' wagon and starts charging exorbitant prices.

I don't see why 14nm would make single core impressive, if anything it's probably easier on 14nm. Similarly getting higher multicore performance should be easier on lower nodes.

I would agree with you, but not yet, Intel has to lose a lot more market share.

Well, Intel removed 8 cores, increased power consumption, and finally possibly reached a 3% higher CPU-Z ST score on a cpu that may be available in march, compared to a stock 5900X that is already available in my case. It should also be said that a 5900X pumped up to 5.15GHz by tweaking the pbo curves scores 700+ in the same CPU-Z ST benchmark, so looks like AMD also has a better IPC clock for clock. Nice Flagship CPU

How is it so far behind a 5800X on multi scores? That's a 250 point difference even though it has better single core scores.

single and multi core boosts may vary a lot

Bring it, hopefully the price is right too!

it's like 250 watts while in turbo state. even the "loud and hot" 5800x and 2 CCD 5900x/5950x only maxes at 105 watts at the very max unless you overclock/PBO. Precision boost clocks is not overclocking and they will frequently go up to 150mhz over listed turbo speeds without any overclocking whatsoever.

How many 8core cpus are in there again? 😀 All this 11gen intel is just a 9900k rehash for a third time.

Happy new year to everyone. The man who gave the results is known for overcklocing with liquid nitrogen even my R23 single score is better lol

and here we see in action a 5900x

I used to go AMD back when the Phenoms were around but AMD let me down. Intel is great for gaming so this is great news to me

10 years do not develop anything, boring and not worth buying See the graph comparing one core? joke

In a perfect world intel and amd will keep leapfrogging each other for 1-5% keeping each other prices in check so ultimately would not matter witch one you buy 😛

There is not much difference between 7nm TSMC and 14nm Intel node size wise. I will skip every 14nm derivate, no matter what Intel can squeeze out of its ever lasting 14nm process. Maybe this performance leak was reached under sub- ambient cooling using the Intel "cryo toy" on a "goiden engeneering sample", who knows? Although it is pretty impressive how Intel is able to optimize their current node, but because of their CPU architecture, Intel CPUs only rely on clock speed and power consumption, If you have enough cooling, you can clock higher and higher. WIth AMD architecture there is a clock speed limit, if you cross this limit or barrier, Ryzen won´t run any faster (elmor showed), that´s why AMD relies so much on IPC performance. The only reason why I stay with Intel is not IPC performance or fanboyism, it is the fun with overclocking. OMG my power bill..........:S

Same as Intel PL1, AMD TDP is a base clock or average, not the max. AMD doesn't document their products, so boost is undisclosed, but 5800X is boosting at over 140 W. ESP+ATX max workload power consumption in iXBT measurements same as 8-core CML-S and Zen 2. https://www.ixbt.com/platform/amd-ryzen-7-5800x-ryzen-9-5950x-am4-test.html#n4 https://www.ixbt.com/img/x780/r30/00/02/36/02/31power.png
