Okay... there is a market for things like this?

Yes, mobile gaming is very much a thing, and these actually work. I've seen reviews.

I don't know, I never had the feeling that a smartphone's battery lives long enough while gaming to make it useful or enjoyable for that. Has that changed? Because every single phone I had was very disappointing battery time wise when gaming.

Depending on the game, they last a few hours, how long does it need to last?

An 8 hour flight? Maybe a 4 or 5 hour flight?

That seems like such a weird an arbitrary requirement that no gaming computer would hit. Steam deck won't do that, gaming laptop wouldn't do it, a Nintendo DS might barely do it with a very light game, but that's about it. But I mean if it's a concern, you just bring a battery bank and you can play the entire time, if your airplane doesn't have charging ports, which many do.

Take a look at this. Just a ONE example. A MOVIE, about PUBG Mobile at ESports level. [youtube=qlIeYq7ZMLY] Now, check this channel https://www.youtube.com/@PUBGMOBILEEsports/videos There ARE users for this. Bigger than you and I know.

What requirement makes it less arbitrary than what I would personally use it for? It's only logical to go by that tbh. But yes, googling a bit shows you're right, none of the described offers that. Which only makes me doubt "mobile gaming" more than before... kind of disappointing to me personally. And bringing a battery bank along is the only way it's even possible, but yes, the most sensible way to go if you can't guarantee you get the right charge for your device on the way. I honestly thought Pokemon Go players with their multiple battery packs were panicking...

Mobile gaming is bigger than console and PC gaming combined. Thats not a bold statement either. Plus, extreme heat or cold temps will drain a battery faster. So this is probably one of their first nonsensical products that would actually cater for more consumers than we imagine. I couldnt see myself using one though. Seems a little too bulky in the hand for my liking. And considering a phone emits no sound at all, assuming you play some games on silent, 26db might bother me a little too much.

I know that mobile gaming's revenue is bigger than PC and console combined, but I honestly attributed it to targeted (age) group and spending habits in that regard... that might be a bold statement though. And for the sake of it, I'd only compare spending customers, not that I haven't gotten Solitaire on my phone to spend time when I'm sitting on the potty but that doesn't necessarily mean I'm in the mobile gaming market. But obviously, I underestimated the possible market for such a device. Oh well, I guess Cooler Master will show us if this works and they will continue to offer it longer than a year, which would undoubtably tell us it's a product they actually make money off.

If you are on a plane you'll just plug it into a portable power bank, or the usb built into the seat and be fine for days.

Thanks for the feedback, I have underestimated the charging of those plane seat things too I guess. I would not have thought they could maintain a handheld's power draw continuously at something about 5A 15W or lower voltage?

The power requirement is less then 1 Watt according to the spec sheet, so I seriously doubt that this "AEROSPACE GRADE TEC PLATE" is even doing anything at something like ½ W for the TEC and ½ W for the fan.

Peltier are very inefficient for cooling, you need to put more energy than the energy you are able to cool , I really have doubts about this device
