That AC3200 router is complete overkill unless you have 20+ devices streaming, gaming or whatever. An AC1900 router would be perfect and it wont break your wallet. I use the Netgear R7000 and I have all my devices hooked to it without any issues.

lol at that router.

I have a Asus router and it's awesome, that already has three aerials lol. Does give the best range I've ever had though, although it's slightly ugly, but I'd rather that than crap range. Onto the soundcard, looks like I'll finally have a reason to upgrade from my D2X.

really looking forward to see those turbo videocards specs, and those soundcards are stunning!

It's simply amazing that a company like ASUS delivers quality products every time. I have almost never in my life regretted an ASUS purchase. While I constantly have problems with competitors.

if the soundcards dont support HDMI 1.4+ they are pretty much useless to anyone that has evolved to HD audio. Dolby Atmos/TrueHD/DTS-MA won't run on anything less.

And what about s/pdif?? I'm not entirely sure that hdmi is going to be the future for audio delivery

Asus has already a piss poor support for their existing sound products and now they're introducing new soundcards? My hopes for a win10 driver for the phoebus are definitely dead.

Using a sound card for digital output is a complete waste of money, the only benefit you might get is audio processing for 3d positioning on stereo headphones. The hdmi output on your video card can passthrough dts-hdma from bluerays easily making your sound card useless for audio output as ahything it could potentially do can easily be done in software. There was a time that a discrete audio card was very important, specially with eax that made games sound amazing but today that line is very blurred, hdmi output tramps over anything else as there is 0 quality loss having dts passing through to your amp and having it decode it and amplify where it counts With no loss on its way there. Unless you need it for audio recording or simply dont have an external amp connected to it and want the sound cards internal decoding and amping to a headset. I dont recommend anyone wasting money on a sound card. Spdif and optical output is limited to hd audio with 2 channel's and merely 5.1+ dts or dolby digital (non hd).

ASUS truly do make good quality stuff... even the cheapest ASUS stuff is good quality.

Not everyone's using a hdmi capable amplifier with a computer and not everyone's using a crappy hdmi connection on their monitors (cuz it can't handle 144hz screens or 4k@60hz). The all digital chain does not have 0 quality loss as you pretend either, your sound quality depends on your amp, and those babies are expensive.

I do recommend soundcards, even if recently the integrated soundchips became passable their implementation on a heavily packed motherboard is still left to be desired. There IS a big jump in sound quality with a good soundcard.

my Asus Essence STX is sitting in my closet, now collecting dust as I have moved on to Dolby Atmos/TrueHD/DTS-MA, and I await DTS:X as well now. I just hope EA doesnt 'EA-to-death' Battlefront and make Dolby Atmos a terrible experience. EA has a knack for doing that with most of their games...not sure who they have envisioning their games, but obviously they have never really played them, before or after development...so..heres to keeping my fingers crossed. 🙂

The thing I am not a fan of with onboard sound chips is interference and static from the rest of the motherboard... I've had quite a few motherboards now that have suffered this... very noticeable when you have 300 dollar headphones.. not so much when you have crappy little desktop speakers.

Bring us.... a shrubbery! I wonder if those soundcards will work with X99 chipsets right away 😀

I couldn't give a toss about viewing angles on a monitor that I'll be sitting directly infront of now I do give toss about refresh rate who here thinks 4K UHD @ 60Hz is going to cut the mustard least they could do is give us Freesync and 120Hz
