I might go with Intel next, thats a switch as I've gone
3800x/108Ti
5800x3d/6900xt
5800x3d/4090
Would be the first Intel CPU I've had since my beastly 2700k

I'm waiting on Meteor Lake tech which is shifted to Arrow Lake now. (higher IPC, clocks AND lower power use, but 2nm so might not be so easy to cool...)
With gfx card releases being put back as well its not a biggie, can get both in the same year still.
Getting 5 years out of my 10700K+3090 will be a lot easier than I thought. 4 years should have been a stretch but its held up very well.

When I said next, I meant next time I upgrade, my 5800x3d is fine for 4k gaming right now.

Glad I got into RL 13gen early, so ML is logical next step up..

15th gen with new redesign will be interesting for sure, I might switch from Rocketlake then.. although it didnt sweat yet, ok maybe in Deadspace remake, but this was avx2 sweating lol 😀

...no point in 14 series unless you have money to burn.
100% correct. The 15th series will probably come to market within the next 6-8 months? Touted to be a significantly improved larger chip design and a much more meaningful upgrade including a said mandated new MB designated for the deep-pocketed tech-bro’s. For the less heeled however I wonder what the 14th gen CPU’s and corresponding older MB will sell for in September 2024? 30% less from today's prices?

Without any actual benchmarks it's hard to judge these CPUs, but since we do have years of experience in this hobby and on specifications alone this feels a lot like Rocket Lake all over again. Intel seems to be in this mindset that they absolutely need annual refreshes, regardless of whether the technology warrants it, and irrespective of demand. They're a lot like mobile phone companies in that regard. Perhaps this is necessitated by market and shareholder expectations.
