I wonder how are they going to price this due to the 4080 to 4070Ti un-launched/rename fiasco 😕 wth nvidia ...
I think NV as the dominant market share leader are hugely arrogant about their products, and maybe understandably so. Unlike many companies who push a product out, i wonder if NV even bother with market research for price/performance and where to slot a particular product into the market. I wouldn't be surprised if NV release the 4070Ti without much concern for the price and then adjust down (or up) depending on sales.

If a 4090 is out of reach for somebody, no issue, just buy a cheaper card, or alternately just get super angry and post all over social media about it, like anybody cares.
The whole spectrum has been getting more expensive, not just the top end. I could do the math, but even without it, it's possible the relative increase in price isn't that far off for all of them. Years ago the money I spent in my ancient upper mainstream card would now buy only lowest mainstream. Who knows, maybe it will only buy an entry level gaming card by the time all of the 4000 and 7000 cards are out. That's some nasty inflation, but I will indeed follow your advice and go for a lower category. That's what I was going to do anyway. I'll have my eyes at 4060 (Ti) or 7600 XT/7700, not 4070 (Ti) or 7800. I don't quite get what social media is for if not for uselessly venting your anger. If you haven't got a cat to post pictures of, what else is it good for?

I dont think NV cares that much about the gaming market anymore. Data center revenue in the third quarter rose 31% from a year ago, while gaming revenue was down 51% from a year ago. They know where future profits are. Gaming market will end up as a sideshow to showcase new tech every now and then, not a major revenue source.

they'll milk early rtx40 adopters hard.just like amd with the early 7900 versions that will cost 900-1000e and will come out again with intended clocks as refresh. I'm loving the tech on lovelace, even the regular 4070 is going to be more performance than I need for 1440p 144Hz, but I'm not buying it until price is adjusted to what 3070 costs now (550eur here ) or at least in the ballpark.

FTFY. Yeah having "strong" beliefs over how X o Y industry behaves in terms of scumbaggery is gonna be beyond difficult, better do not exist at all or bring someone to life, it is next to impossible to be "ethic"

They bother with that type of stuff, believe me. The problem for Nvidia is that need to clear the 3000 gen stock and they don`t want to lower the prices to do it, so their solution is to make the 4000 series even more expensive than the previous gen. But people are not (that) stupid and their plan is already failing, as we can see from the poor sales from the 4080. The question is how long is Nvidia going to persist with this strategy...

4090 sales are strong no? But I agree the 4080 is aimed at a different demographic and that demographic for whatever reason are keeping their hands in their pockets.

It's probably going to perform like a 3080 and cost about as much as a 3080. No more price/performance improvements for you!

It’s all just numbers and specs on a piece of paper. Ultimately the performance is either worth the price to you or it isn’t. There’s no value in the top end, so don’t go looking for it.
Actually, the 4090 is still currently the best value card in Nvidia's 4000 series if you can afford it. Starting at an MSRP of US$1600, it is only $100 more than the 3090 but gives so much more performance (almost 40% more) than its last generation counterpart. Contrast this to the 4080 which is US$ 500 more than the 3080 and the 4070 ti (should be 4070) which will probably be US$ 400 more than the 3070.

Yea, the 4090 is selling good because it`s a beast of the card and a luxury item at the same time. As for the 4080, there`s little reason to buy. The value proposition is simply non existant, beause of the stupid price, it offers 75% of performance at 75% of the price... And the worst part, at least for me, is that the customers willing to shell out $1200 (1500€) for the 4080 are basically the same guys willing to burn $1500 (2000€) for the 4090, there aren`t different customers for both the 4080 and the 4090 because after a certain point (1.000€) the customers are all the same. In my case, if i was crazy enough to spend more than 1.500€ on a GPU, then i would make the extra effort and buy the 4090 for 2.000€, because the card is so much better. I think the same is going to happen with the new 7900 cards, were the 100€ price difference is going to be too small to persuade people to get the XT version.

Yeah I think that's the reason they are prices like that to make the top products look more appealing.

Im thinking more like 3080ti performance but It has frame generation so it can pull ahead in games that supports it.
