The whole GTX 1080 launch is all just a big joke! Haven't seen anything like this for quite some time. Anyone can say whatever it pleases them. But the above is my opinion and that's it.

Not sure how they can call this "founders edition" when they are removing the parts that make it the "Founders Edition" (Nvidia designed custom cooler and backplate).. This word play of "founders edition" is now starting to sound like no matter what, we will always be paying $699 or more for these cards... Where are the MSRP ($599) cards?

...The water block is made by Bykski, a Chinese water block manufacturer that offers a very similar aesthetic to EK's water block designs...
Premium price for an Chinese copy of EK blocks design bundled with the "premium" Founder Edition GPU which "premium" cooler will be throw away on arrival. :3eyes: The only real fact in this GPU is the evident scam. Call it:"A real dumb deal". 😀

Water cooling with a full cover water block like this one shown here or aftermarket cooling for example Accelero 4 extreme or hybrid after market cooling the core with an AIO liquid cooler won't help much for the Reference Design PCB Board founders Edition , that board has severely limited overclock headroom due to the fragile VRM and power delivery design , guys please wait for better PCB designs with better VRMs and power circuitry that can delivers more and stable power to this great GPU so that you can really let it loose and take advantage of all that overclocking room that you won't find on the reference card , " oooppss " i mean Founders Edition overpriced video card , otherwise if you want to overclock you will be waisting time and lots of your money with the FE , the card is not held back by temperatures using aftermarket cooling but by the poor and fragile VRM power circuitry design ( yes Nvidia again went cheap on the VRM power circuitry ). You can google and find many youtube videos with GTX 1080 Founders Edition video cards running full cover water blocks from EK , Using Hybrid AIO liquid cooling and Aftermarket heatsinks like accelero extreme 4 , search youtube and you will see for yourselves GTX 1080 max stable overclocks is around 2140~2180 but here comes the big BUT . it will not be a static overclock as it will fluctuate all the time between your maximum overclock let's say 2160Mhz it will go down sometimes all the way to 1800Mhz , then will go up let's say to 2000Mhz , then to your max overclock of 2160Mhz and then back down again , this happens all the time and so on so forth while you are playing games. As to overclocking is related Nvidia has cripple this Founders Edition with poor design and fragile VRM power circuitry and the new way that overclock works, changing clocks dynamically all the time it;s a no no in my book 😏. So please do not buy a full cover water block for the reference board PCB Founders Edition , much better designs are coming to let you overclock to the moon really soon !

Yep, sadly, seems some factors limit overlockability over ( reference ) air cooling.. temperature threshold is at 82-83°C,,, tdp is then, even when under H20, the second limiting factors .. Without low temps, clocks seems to hit both treshold quickly, and throttle like mad cow under standard cooler ... Ofc, it can be caused by a particular sample they had ( but i doubt it ).. 100mhz vs air for half the temperature under h2o is really cheap anyway. Now i understand better why during the presentation, it was made mention of a special bios for overclocking who will be available on demand . ( when and for who, this is another question ).. But i can imagine this bios remove the TDP limitation... What worry me the more is not really the clock throttle, but how it is throttle, look this graph.. So, in essence you pay 200$ for a liquid cooling solution...a bit on the high end, but not too bad imo. seeing HH's review, i'd certainly want either liquid or Good 3rd party air cooling before i buy one of these (fully intending to clock it)

My thoughts exactly, you can achieve the same crappy OC with the FE cooler, putting it under water is waste... custom cards will be a different story.
