I'll buy SSD when 4 TB reaches the 250 € mark (which is still quite far away). I don't even need it to be fast SSD, it can be totally mediocre. Why? Because I want to build a 100% silent SSD NAS to put it in the living room. Any mediocre SSD will be faster and more durable than any HDD, which are two other pluses that come with it, so... yep, bring on the bigger and cheaper chips!

I thought I’d mention it because you seem like you might be interested but OWC sells 4 TB Micon SSDs for around $370 and I’ve seen them go on sale for $300 every month or so. I’m not sure if you have to be on their mailing list to get the deal or not. Every month or two I get an email from them advertising $300 price https://eshop.macsales.com/item/Micron/AK3T8TBY1A/

Adding shipping to Europe, taxes, etc. the price goes up a lot, but thanks for the heads up!
