If it comes with Dolby Vision and updated WiFi I'd probably replace my original for elsewhere. I'm not really sure what else they'd do though - especially since it's still using same SoC - perhaps a built in external microphone for voice? I use a harmony remote and it would be nice to directly do voice for searches and stuff. The spot was supposed to come out years ago but I guess they ended up cancelling it.

How about finally supporting playing back frame-packed native Bluray 3D format for once ever? I have Bluray 3D rips in this original native format and the hardware in the current Shield 2017 cannot play it back at all. It was a serious omission from previous one done for either political or hardware based reasons. Lots of poeple wanting it for years and NVidia would only say "we are not supporting 3D playback". Lots of much cheaper, shittier media players support this format... but not the supposedly greatest Shield...

I'm not a fan of 3D but I could see wanting support for it if you like it. I didn't realize it didn't support it tbh.

Yes I have a lot of 3D blurays... and would like to be able to play them from PLEX the same as all other normal Blurays on media server. When it works... the special HDMI signal tells the projector/TV to go into actual page flipping 3D mode. Not like all the fake 3D formats which do nothing to signal and only operate at half resolution... MVC 3D runs both eyes at Full HD resolution. My Sony projector in 3D mode then signals the 3D LCD glasses to operate at synchronized frequency. 3D is mostly shit on any TV - it only really works on giant projected screen. There's tons of threads on shield forums asking them for it... and they always refused... always presumed it was a hardware limitation and they were making excuses around this. https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/forums/shield-tv/9/232121/nvidia-is-3d-mvc-support-a-possibility-or-wont-be-/

I love my shield TV but damn I wish they would reboot the tablet as well I have the 2015 Tablet and it would be great if it got a reboot and come out with an upgraded version of it as well.

They need to fix the remote control problem too. Woefully unresponsive. I own 4 Shields, and all of them have remote control issues. And make them rechargeable and not use those ridiculous CR2032 batteries.

Will it work with Google Stadia?? If it works, it became the best gaming platform and media center.
