Somehow that made me so mad that im thinking to skip it. Never do that again Bethesda.
Same here, and weirdly enough yesterday I played Undying after so many years 😀 I think I will just open that drawer with my hall of fame games and skip all new titles this year... MDK 2 still SO fun to play.

it shouldnt be called prey anything. its entirely unrelated to the original IP. they literally just bought the name & scrapped everything else... also im quite underwhelmed at the console-tier gfx. quite certain thats where the "crappy console port" comment came from...theyre just setting the bar kinda low. my gpu doesnt have much horsepower, sure, but nonetheless im not altogether pleased: modern games are supposed to look modern.
It's CryEngine, and AMD Polaris sucks at the CryEngine. I believe due to lack of memory bandwidth. Xbox Scorpio would easily run through this game though.

Battlefront 2, Prey (2017) and CoD: WWII are your AAA games for 2017. Are you sure you want to skip them? They're going to be amazing. /s

Probably yes, unless CoD: WWII gives me the same rifle feeling and sound as the Medal of Honor: Allied Assault. (with my subwoofer back then I could almost feel the kick from the rifle 😀) That one is hard to beat.

Why do devs still bother with that? What GPU out there would register even 1FPS of difference between OFF and 16x? I remember it making a difference on my Radeon 7500 back in 2001...
It is tied to everything. Including mipmapping of textures. Some games may even skip it and have trilinear on its own.

I haven't played the demo yet but I am betting this will be nowhere near as good as the original. That game still looks and plays better than most games today.

I really enjoyed the demo myself, really doesn't look as bad as everyone is claiming on console and there's a good base visuals wise to build upon for the PC version. Gameplay wise it really wants you to explore the environments, pretty much everything in the world can be interacted with and the story made me wish the demo was longer. I'll see how it fares in the reviews before purchasing however.

Issues running Prey on Steam Hey there im new to this site so trying to find a thread i could post my issue on Anyways I just got my PC about 5 days ago now, I just installed Prey yesterday. My PC easily passes the requirements to run the game. So just as i started up the game i cranked it to max settings to check it out, but for some reason im having serious lag I put my OSD on and the game starts out at 130fps then drops all the way down to 20 and eventually hits rock bottom to 1 fps. I even tried running on medium quality and still the same issue. Could someone mention some advice to why this is happening? I just built this PC at my local retailer and they said this PC is capable of running games years down the line....

This is closer to a System Shock 2 sequel than a prey sequel

Maybe shoulda called it SS3 than Prey.

Hang on! If the power and tech is there, why not use it? My old GTX 960 had more power than the X1 or the PS4... Yet it takes a 980 to get 50fps on certain games! PC has had 4K tech since the 980TI and if all games werent console ported trash designed on what a console can or its limitations why should people like me buy their crap then? You game on PC to get away from limitations. Yet you jump down the throat of someone who doesn't want a game based on money grabbing companies who can't be botherd to make Pc games that are optimised for a PC... We know they don't do this because it costs more! And they won't have that! I don't get people like you?
Take that GTX 960, give it at least 4GB of vram, set the game to the same quality settings and resolution as a PS4, and you should run it at a roughly 2x the frame rate.
Maybe shoulda called it SS3 than Prey.
That's already in development. I don't have a problem with this game and I've loved all of Arcane's previous work.

The minimum specs once again are overstated. It runs fine with my FX6300. I don't know what criteria they use for minimum but if it was up to me, I would say it should be the minimum hardware that can run the game at 30 fps at 1080p on the lowest settings. I don't understand why they do it. DOOM did the same thing. They are limiting their sales by scaring away people who could play the game and enjoy it.

CryEngine always ran well on AMD FX. The Polaris family is unfortunately weaker than the R9 290/390 family in it though, at least with Crysis 3.

So thats why the game looks like garbage if see them recommended sysem specs what a freaking joke lol.
Those are not the recommended specs that HH posted. Those are the minimum. Here are the recommended ones: Recommended •CPU: Intel i7-2600K, AMD FX-8350 •GPU: GTX 970 4GB, AMD R9 290 4GB •Memory: 16 GB Those are in line with most new games.

Good to see the Beth AMD partnership paying off, the ancient 970 faster than the 4/580, and the 1060 up with the Fury X. :P

Its strange that HH didnt make the perfrormance benchmark. Maybe he just dont have enough time.
