3070 -no 3060ti - absolutely 6800 and 6800xt are both worth it imo,but the problem was the msrp was unrealistic from the beginning. The msrp on partner cards was 100-150 usd higher from the start, and as hardwareunboxed explained, that was due to amd setting it unrealistically low compared to production costs.tbh I feel for companies like sapphire - amd has been giving precious little to earn on recently, and when they have, the margin at msrp would have been extremely low.
3070 is worth 500$. If the msrp was real it woud be one of the most popular cards already.

Prices are absurd for everything. So happy I got a 5700 XT when I did.

Reference 5700xt was 379$ i remember. If only we knew price will be three times that everyone would get one.

Still kicking myself for not buying 2 of those Amazon offered them for 299 for a few hours, if I remember correctly.

Remember the time when Titan was released at 1000$ and we thought price is outrageous even for a super high end? Ah, those ware the times.
The problem lies with people that actually bought them and made them profitable for the company: they learned they could charge whatever they wanted and still sell. Us poor people with a sense of value are the ones who get ripped off now.

My 5700xt was €425 including VAT or ~€350 without it. If its the same performance a couple of years later, how is it a good buy? That's assuming I can even get it for the MSRP price.

It's a good buy because it's the only thing you can buy 😛

I paid 450€ including VAT (25% here in DK) - 3500dkk - for a Red Dragon variant that was unstable throughout, I ended up RMA'ing it about 6 months later and asked the store if I couldn't chip in 20€ and get the Red Devil instead. No problem, they said.

Yes and no .... They learned they can overcharge to oblivion when there is high demand and there is crypto boom where miners willing to pay 3x or more msrp and get a pallet . When mining is out of the equation and the used cards hit the market none wil be buying em on those prices and they will have to lower prices happen in 2014 happen in 2018 it will happen now again . Eventually us the poor people with the sense of value will be the majority of their sales once again.

Yeah it was a good deal looking back at it, but at the time I really thought I will be replacing that card with the new gen. Now I pray it doesn't die on me.

Yeah, I was thinking the same. I was happy to get something that powerful, but there were the usual caveats with a modern Radeon (I've had the RX480, 580 (from RMA of the 480)) so I knew that the power came with the tiniest of caveats of possible weirdness. And I guess the instability of the Red Dragon was kind of a curse 😛 but have been very happy with it overall, the card runs fine and pretty much does 75hz on my 3440x1440 monitor all the time in everything. At least with a bit of tweaking. FSR also makes a good deal for it being more long lived than originally thought.

Oh yeah I am happy with the card overall. I updated from gtx970 so the bump was noticeable and I especially love the FSR. I play 1080p though with high refresh rate. I was planning to update monitor and gpu with this gen and switch to either high refresh rate 1440p or 60hz at 4k, but alas with the prices I will just wait a generation. btw, I didn't experience any instability. I do know that some people did have issues with driver crashes, but it didn't affect me. So I wouldn't say that the experience was in any way more quirky or weird than on nvidia.
