Intel did something far better than AMD if the Southbridge doesn't require active cooling.

Won't be much longer before we actively start moderating and infracting comments like these. I just performed a check on your posts, and your AMD hate is shocking (and lame).

Not that I'd want to argue against the site owner, but if you check my post history from the recent years, you'd notice I've badmouthed Intel so much that I, myself, became ashamed of it and tried to return to a semblance of neutrality. However, 100% of Guru3D readers enjoy you spending your time reviewing products and running the site, not studying post histories, so please don't.

This is something that I was curious to see in these MBs. It seems these ones don't need active cooling which is nice.

So what is the problem with active cooling?

Intel designs and produces their own southbridges so maybe that´s the reason.

It´s another source of noise and another small part that may break in the future.

Wasn't the X570 chipset designed by AMD itself extempore when Asmedia failed to produce one within specs in time? It's somehow related to the IO chip in the CPU package, or something, I believe.

Yeah, who wouldn't remember the PCs of 20 years ago that all sported the miniature fans of the lousiest imaginable quality? I also don't like how it's placed on the mobo so that a full-length video card sits right on top of the fan. I reckon the placement of the chip itself is somehow majorly restricted by the PCB design, even by trace lengths to the CPU and other components, but it's still the kind of thing that makes you scratch your head, wondering how the left hand didn't know what the right was doing when that scheme was created.

Ive had atleast 10 motherboards incuding the one im using now that had active cooling and never have I heard them or had a problem with them.

i rarely saw active cooling on southbrdg on intel board...nothing new. that doesnt mean temp will be low, they allow this chip to reach something like 70C, for me that require an extra fan, or a nicely cooled case.

if you design it well then nothing but I know a x570 tuf owner who had to void his mobo warranty and install a heasink cause the noise was absolutely unbearable when gaming.the gpu heated up the chipset and blocked airflow.
