HEDT isn't dead, AMD also has their own HEDT section, it's just more for servers, business and commercial use. not used much for the average person. Though i wish on both amd and intel they would open up more PCI-e lanes especially with M.2 being used now long with additional expansion cards

I never said that HEDT is dead but Platform is dead [x299 platform], intel is coming up with new HEDT CPUs soon and obviously they will use new chipset. I also wish for more PCIe lanes, but right now if you Game [meaning TR is a nono] and need lots of PCIe lanes, Intel x299 is the only way to go, you can get Gigabyte x299 mobo with TWO PLX chips, and its 10$ cheaper then MSI x570 Creation mobo for Ryzen 3000 You get tons of PCIe lanes from CPU and PLX chips double them [or quadruple with 2 chips?] If Intel priced its 12 core for even 600USD and 16 core for 800 ill be all over, instead of waiting for ryzen 16 core. I know that buying Ryzen is a mistake, but Intel has nothing comparable in 16 core area, the main issue with Ryzen is that they cheap and people view them as cheap and that means Devaluation, when Intel comes with new CPU and I sell my previous gen i loose maximum 10-20%, Ryzen lowers prices even without releasing new CPUs, everyone who paid full price for 6 and 8core Gen1, now have 100-150$ CPUs, gen 2600x is available for 140$ and how much it was on release? 300$ or more Im afraid that my 750USD investment in Ryzen 3950x will end up in 2020 as maximum 300-350$ at best maybe 400$ This kinda pushes me to wait until intel announces new HEDT in winter and get their 16 core, just because it hold value, no otehr reason, but because buying intel is like leasing a CPU, you get most of your money back when you sell it, buying AMD is like buying a car, the moment you turned it on driving it already lost 20% :)

I prefer all of my PCI-e lanes to be what they should be.... Just that....and not through some sort of limiting PLX and or bridge chip. A few videos showing that Intel 299 "bandwidth" crumple against that of the ThreadRipper series when comparing speeds of their PCI-e numbers using Samsung nvme drives x8 in raid 0. AMD's offerings smashed that of Intel's...... So yeah if I were a gamer and created "some" content here and there and wanted fast AZz storage I'm going to say only AMD has enough PCI-e lanes that are actually capable. Not limited on their throughput by interfacing with a chip.

How nice of Asus to refresh their "leading" board, the Rampage. Just so that they don't have to bother to release updated drivers for any other edition of the Rampage VI besides the Encore. Been there with the Rampage V.
