Their routers are ****, crap software, crap firmware and I've had two, both of which like to kick you off from time to time and need to be restarted to fix. Stick to the well established brands for Networking hardware. Asus are crap in other areas like their Sound Cards and Motherboards, but sadly there doesn't seem to be much competition as they're all as bad as each other. Frigging Asian OEMs suck, need the west to stop shifting it all over there.

So I've had like four ASUS routers, all four are still operational and I never had any issues with them running the stock firmware or DD-WRT. I also only buy ASUS motherboards for the most part, again no issues. EssenceSTX? Aside from the drivers easily one of the best soundcards I've ever owned, I still prefer it with OPA627's to this ZxR I'm running now. Also all my family's laptops are all ASUS, aside from my sister breaking the power charger on hers by bending the power connector when she was sitting with it in bed, I've had no issues with any of them. Also that laptop was out of warranty when she did that and despite this ASUS shipped me the part for free even after explaining exactly how it happened. Lenovo is another company I highly recommend. So yeah, I think I'll stick to the Asian OEM's

Not sure I would say they suck. I think its just that people that buy things like this are a little more vocal on the web than the average person when something goes wrong (which happens with everything tbh). Having said that I've had zero issues with the ac68 and support has been great for it. This new one looks like a beast too

i am on my second RT-AC66U because the first one went the way that miffywiffy had mentioned, but the second one has been absolutely rock solid. Speeds of 702mbps over wifi at the other end of our apartment (in a congested building for wifi signals to boot) is nothing short of amazing. it sounds like miffywiffy was just unbelievably unlucky.
