I think the ROG boards are overrated.

and overpriced. paying a premium for the ROG title honestly. I think I may go Gigabyte yet again.

ASUS is like buying a mercedes over a honda(gigabyte). Of course not that extreme of a difference but still. Gigabyte BIOS layout IMO is just sh1t compared to ASUS. ROG boards have the best OC potential, especially RAM oc. Top end ROG boards are expensive plus have a lot of unused features usually for me. That's why I'd go with the middle ground ASUS board.

I have found CPU ocing doesnt make any difference when using ASUS Z series boards. I will take the ASUS signature series all day long. Its cheaper and for gaming RAM OCing doesnt make any difference. THe only thing you have is saying you have a ROG board which is kinda shallow considering they aren't better in performance.

No i don't have an ROG board. I have personally seen a similar ASUS Z97 over gigabyte board, asus had much better OC ability for Dram and CPU cache. Core clock not much difference but was able to lower core voltage a good bit. I didn't say ROG was better performer over middle ground ASUS boards; just that tweak-ability for the extreme side of users is much better. For general use it's a waste of money.

Nice board, waiting patiently for the Apex though 🙂

I admit I didn't look closely but the UEFI Bios that both the Asus and Gigabyte boards are using in the 370 looks awfully similar..

Greetings from Switzerland ! As always a fantastic and complete review. Thank you very much ! A question, where did you get the 0402 bios ? My board came with an older one, working well but ... I can’t find a newer one or the 0402 on ASUS web site. Best regards, Gerard Langlois
