Unleash the Beast...... If the R9-290X is properly cooled, it can beat the fastest nVidia graphics card the GTX780Ti @ a lower price point.

Let's see what this beasty is capable of with proper cooling 😀

And that's why people you should have waited for custom 290's. :P

I think this combined with my new 1440p monitor is gonna make me dump 2gb 680 earlier than expected 🙂

Custom cards usually start showing up around 3-4 month after their reference counterparts are out. So that Jan release sounds about right.

yeah, bs it's been ages, NVidia's are out way before now, why so apologist? only NVidia's top line take a while, all amd have is a directCU2 pic.

This i will gladly wait for... Wish it was coming out SOONER then the first of the year.. I might give up my asus loyalty if msi lightning comes out first...

The 290's are AMD's top line. There are after market cards out for everything else they've released.

Might be taking a while for the 290s, as they are new. 🙂

Hmmm... I'm in the process of building a new rig and I'm down to picking out my video card. I was going to go with a GTX 780, but these R9 290x cards have me intrigued... I had a pair of HD6950 a few years ago and I got rid of them in favor of a GTX680 because I was getting micro-stuttering in certain games. I also hated how long it took for AMD to update their drivers. Has AMD's driver releases and frequency gotten any better? Should I hold off for these cards? Anyone have any experience with R9 290x in crossfire?

Just go for the GTX 780. :tomcat: Anyway, the R9 290X is an impressive GPU! 🙂
