I've been itching to replace my crappy Haswell i3 laptop for a while. The CPU, GPU, RAM, and SSD performance of it are perfectly fine, it's everything else about the hardware that is terrible. I'm much more interested in this Asus model over the HP, but I wish it were maybe $100 cheaper and without the Windows license, since I'd put Linux on instead. The only thing that especially concerns me is Asus is notorious for bowing down to every whim of MS, and as a result intentionally makes pre-loaded laptops incredibly difficult to run anything that isn't the Windows boot drive. On top of that, it isn't easy to install any OS on an ARM platform with built-in storage and no USB-OTG port. I hope this can work for my needs, but I certainly don't want to be the first to try.
