Couldn't care less about the RGB headers. The big story on this board is the improvements and revision over the M8H. This thing has M.2 and U.2 without significant feature sacrifice. It also includes the latest driver packages which ASUS seems really slow to update on the initial release M8 boards. The M8H Alpha also includes an Intel USB 3.1 controller instead of ASMedia 3.1 found on the original M8H. Wifi and BT is another nice addition... not really a priority for a gaming board but I prefer it being there rather than not.

I've had my ROG Maximus VIII Hero since the end of August and love the look of the board. The performance has been great but I do hope Asus fixes the audio drivers because with their driver I was getting a loud pop every time the speakers woke up from a sleep type mode. I rolled back to the default Win10 audio driver and it fixed the issue. Also the GAMEFIRST III software added crazy lag to all of my downloads, they would go for a few seconds then stop for a second, then resume, really bad. So I guess in short great looking board, great performance, bad software, don't install the Asus disk that is included, it just broke things for me.

One Day I would love to see a new article comparing the "ASUS X99-E WS" with its 4 bus PCIExpress16x (16x,16x,16x,16x) as compared to the shared bus motherboards (Of any kind) as far as gaming performance difference. Why hasn't all motherboards created this? Maybe a new article Guru3D?
