I was just reading e news flash...The UK government is working on a Universal Service Obligation that would see all UK residents with at least 10Mbps Internet connections by 2020......:bang: am not saying it's completely useless,but there surely aren't too many out there who had this on their xmass list

Sounds like the UK is in a tougher spot than the US when regarding Internet throughput to the masses..... Here I was thinking I was getting the gimp in regards to performance per dollar.

In the Netherlands we are already running 1 Gbit internet for normal consumers for €45 a month in quite a lot of places. So 10 Gbit (at least for my home network) is quite a nice addition.... IF it's reasonably priced of course.

About the same thing in Romania. Wherever the big ISPs have infrastructure there's usually a gigabit subscription available. 10gigabit is not really unrealistic in the near future but it begs the question: do you need it? Even SSDs won't be able to write at those speeds. At least not regular ones. The gigabit subscription is cheap, coming in at 10EUR. The second biggest ISP offers 500mbps at 17EUR. It's more expensive, but the ping is better. I've had both subscriptions.

Neither, you would need a pci-e-E motherboard supporting 40 pci-e lanes to run 4cards @ 8XSLI.

My old P4 rig from 12 years ago on the 875P chipset has gigabit ethernet. We still can't saturate that with broadband...

you mean 32 lanes right as 4x8=32 what we really need to keep everything running at top speed is a minimum of 64 PCIe 3.0 lanes but while no one is pushing intel you get what they feel like giving you and you have to put up with it

You are correct. I said 40 lanes since the current Haswell-E are 28/40 Lanes.

OK Thank You. Asus makes a motherboard that supports 4 -16x PCIE bus SLI its about $500 but Its out of stock and I cant find one anywhere. (ASUS X99-E WS) I figure they made a better version of the board but I still cant find another with that bus speed.
