So it's called dual because... it hast two fans? Read that as if they'd put two chips on a PCB again, but this is just another 1060 3GB isn't it?

Had the same thought. Apparently its a new marketing hoax. Lets rebrand something as Bla Bla DUAL - that would make customers consider us! ( yeah and like as if 99% of other video cards dont have two fans ). However Dual chip 1060 would be very interesting product! Add a large 3 fan cooler on top, make it Large two slot card, add a sturdy backplate, provide two 8 pin connectors, and two bios. Hell that would be an attractive card for 1080p resolution gaming. 🙂

Same here,Thought it was a Gtx 1060x 2. Was going to consider it as my next card.

Technically there Can be. Yes card doesn't have headers for SLI connectors, however if both chips were on one card, it would run well assuming driver would support 1060 SLI. However if driver doesn't have that, than yes. Still quite silly, why not allow it to be run in SLI, would give them even more competitive advantage over AMD.

Wasn't there another brand having the same thing going on with the RX 480 recently? Also called Dual, just because of 2 Fans.

I'm kind of glad it's not, 3gb of memory on what is basically an SLI setup? Noooo lol

You're not the only one. Thought wow, 1060SLI on a single PCB, cool...for someone out there...maybe?

Well honestly for 1080p, that is OK, however yes the more the better. 4GB should be the sweet spot for such resolution. Funny thing on my 1080, in 1440p Rise of the Tomb Raider, everything pumped to max (AA was on FXAA) I have had 7,9gb Vram usage. Ouch! So apparently V-ram wise, this card barely can hold 1440p resolution. :eek3:

I guess it's because the driver just allocates the memory available, no big deal. I game at 1440p, no issues so far, and my cards have got 4GB VRAM (not playing Tomb Raider though, but BF1 for instance runs without issues, Total War: Warhammer, even Shadow of Mordor with HD textures that were said to need 6GB VRAM).

+1, Even with previous releases of 3GB versions of GTX 1060, I considered it as bad move for customer. They save few $, but soonish they'll realize need to reduce texture/shadow quality. In 2017, longevity of cards with 3GB vRAM is not going to be high. And it is sad to see card which actually has some power limited by manufacturer saving $8 on memory chips in total.

The article has the name of the product released, anything else would be pointless and false representation. The product name was of ASUS' invention, not Guru3D.
