Asus armory crap had som uppdates to dynamic lightning plugin but i didnt work and it gave me windows issues so i uninstalled the useless software. Its my fourth asus motherboard with armory crate and none of them has worked its like a virus that software.

Armoury crate is the worst i have a large assortment of Asus/ROG/TUF gear, but not quite a fanboy. luckily for me i'm not big into rgb. though there is enough to want a cohesive solution. another gripe with it is i have to go into bios for my fan curves as the Armoury crate presets often fail

That app is bizarre, vague and like trying to control something in the dark with a popsicle stick. To a point where its practically useless. Thanks Microsoft.

Worked for me, with 790 steel legend, download was on the motherboard page, includes both windows and normal versions. But the windows settings are kind of crap, I prefer openRGB, so I flashed it back to normal.

I go out of my way to get pc parts without rgb, but I do wonder how long it is until Gamer's Nexus does a deep dive into this and finds it uses just as much system resources as the astonishingly terrible RGB pushing tech companies. I have to say, making a pc a "showpiece" to brag about and then being able to flog pretty lights for it is clever marketing. I'm pretty sure computers shouldn't be seen or heard at all but maybe that's just me!

Its just you i think, well not entirely but for somebody to go to the trouble of planning and researching a build (certainly if tis the first time), buying all the parts, assembling, tweaking and then enjoying their creation, nothing odd about wanting that to look as good as it performs and to also show of what you have achieved. While i also agree that RGB (for me) doesnt enter into the equation for buying components, i do have a chilled blue from my x570 Taichi MOBO, the CPU Block is red, and i have a red LED behind the reservoir but thats it.

I don't know how the developer of openRGB does it, but he puts all these companies to shame. MSI centre has like 7 services and processes running in the background, yet it doesn't control its own devices RGB that well. Takes seconds for the change to take effect and last time I tried it, it flickers twice to apply. Meanwhile, openRGB has no sevices or processes running, unless you have the app open which uses less than 2MB and no CPU usage, and what is impressive is that the change is instant. One can drag a slider and the change in colour is immediate. MSI can only dream of something like that. Also, this application can be used for different brands and doesn't have the advantage of focusing on a specific set of devices of one brand. Yet it works better.

'removing the need for additional software' = 'everyone will get the software even if they do not want it'

Well it worked fine till the next day, after switching on today all lights stayed off and I got a "a request for the usb device descriptor failed. code 43" in device manager. had to remove the power cord for a minute to get it back recognized again, then when starting asrock's Polychrome RGB I got "this MCU is empty" error, so i had to reflash with WriteFW.bat included with Polychrome RGB. After rebooting the leds came back on again. Thought I had f'ed them beyond repair, so feel kind of lucky now.

I think everyone agrees that Armory Crate is just garbage and no one sane should use it...

I don`t mind RGB as long as i can turn it off easily but the problem is that certain hardware parts turn a simple task in something difficult for some reason i can`t understand. In my case, i`ve bought a nice Gskill DDR 32Gb kit for my AM5 system that works very well. But the damn thing has RGB that can only be turned off by using Gskill`s proprietary RGB controller!!! This is infuriating and i`m already considering trading my memory kit for another one without RGB. Even worse, i bought this kit because it was 20€ cheaper than the version without RBG because i thought turning off the lights was one simple one time task...

Have you tried open RGB software its liittle difficult to understand first and you need to start first time with adminitrator right to search all hardware. I tried it with my asus x670 board and it worked and i can even control my nvidia rtx 4090 fe card light with it. I dont have rgb g.skill ram so cant test it.
