Will be interesting to see how this does hold up to the 3090 but yeah even with the ray tracing performance improved with the additional cores here I don't expect too much for the first attempt from AMD but it's a start until RDNA3 can build on it and fix whatever needs to be addressed.
Maybe get developers to ease on the Ultra RTX/DXR type stuff ha ha.
Which to be fair though it's not just the distance comparing against modified settings in Control greatly reduce the overall noisiness of the effect though it becomes even more demanding as a significant drawback to the already heavy ray tracing effects even in this hybrid implementation and first generation.
Managed to snag a Sapphire Nitro+ RX 6900 XT for about 1320USD, overpriced like mad here in Asia. I comfort myself with the knowledge that mine's a local set with local warranty, as opposed to sets from Amazon which are cheaper, but RMA is in the US, so gotta factor shipping costs to US. And the added hassle of having a N. American address for the replace/repaired unit.
