Well this is a downgrade from a 680mx

It still has 1TB 5400rpm HDD as standard. Aren't those things hideously slow? I thought they would have SSD's as standard or a standard option like on their laptops.

No it's not, it's faster and uses less tdp

Space will always be more important for most general users.
