Out of the two available ones the LG has my preference when it comes to the housing and stand. Though if i do end up getting one i will probably wall mount it.

I wonder if the panel was not 240hz but 140, if it would bring the price down? Also, is even such a panel being produced? All these OLED "gaming" monitors are 240hz. I would be ok with 120hz, if the price would be lower.

Yeh, since i only really play at 60 FPS i wouldn't need 240 Hz either.

Not to mention that OLED does look a lot better in motion than any other panel at the same hz!

ppl spending about 1k on a screen, are better off spending a little more, and buy the equivalent LG/Sony oled tv, as its bigger and UHD.

That's what I think as well. Why are they charging such a premium for such a small piece of the OLED display? For the same money right now I'd go the 48"-50" OLED TV.

It wasn't long ago 48" and 42" were more expensive than 55" of the same model. Once they start selling and ramp up production prices should drop.

Why would i want a TV on my desk, i sit 80CM away... i don't like watching tennis.

Me neither. I want a 27'-32" OLED monitor for most games. You can't discount sitting on a sofa using a controller with a big screen and surround sound or single player games. It's a nice experience. But for most games I prefer the desk with mouse and keyboard. Why should a much smaller portion of the OLED panel then demand such a premium? I recall when LG started releasing the 48" due to a change in the prinitng production method. Only so much real estate can be cut into panels and they try to do so with as little waste as possible. Why do PC users once again have to pay more for basically less?

I'm sure it has everything to do with the manufacturing process, it's much higher density on a small screen.

"For that reason, pretty much every OLED gaming monitor next year is likely to be TV-derived rather than truly PC-specific. So, expect to see more 27-inch 1440p panels 34-inch 1440p ultrawide options. It won't be until at least 2024 that we see higher density OLED gaming monitors, such as 32-inch 4K panels. And because they won't be derived from TV tech that's produced in huge numbers, it's also likely that such displays will be extremely pricey, more's the pity." https://www.pcgamer.com/heres-why-first-gen-oled-gaming-monitors-arent-truly-pc-optimized/

you're right of course - but i have a 42" vesa mounted to the back of my desk and i'm never going back, esp @4k. it fills most of my field of vision. pc user are "raped" between 27-32" as the same logic as real estate applies - location X3 which does nothing to make us feel better, just the truth. f.y.i. the 1440p panel here has a finer pitch (pixel density) which costs more money (not enuff to justify price) as the yield is lower. for $100 less you can get closer to oled w/ Cooler Master Tempest 27" mini-led/ips @ 160Hz but for me i'd just save my ducats and get the oled

Great TV too, have had the 65" in the living room for over a year. Wish I had the funds to go 4k with a 32"...some day.

yeah 4k is one son of a beech tree i moved my 27" "fast" ips (TUF 1440p) to my office and replaced it w/ 42" ROG oled. took me 6 mos of pennypinching. i was able to get a 6900xt (liquid devil) @ msrp when that was a big deal, but even then i didn't get the fps i had and had to readjust my gaming. i'm still waiting to pull trigger on 7900xtx as i don't want much of a gap between selling the liquid devil and effing w/ my loop to deal w/ whole thing. also the price has been fluctuating...i can mount a gpu but i learned to like the pre-blocked cards esp. the powercolor or the old evga. but right now with those in ltd supply it's cheaper to do it yourself but if i want to play 4k 90+ fps i have to

After playing around with an Alienware aw3423dw for 2 days, I decided to send it back. I had too many issues with it (from the terrible glossy coating that was never getting "clean" for good, to weird losing signal issues when switching HDR on and off) and the fact that the text discoloration or w/e you call it and the risk of burn in, that all OLED panels still suffer from made me stay away for a while longer. The fact that my PC is in a very bright and sunny room for most of the day, doesn't help either. Don't get me wrong, when it worked, especially in the evening, it looked amazing. But the whole hide taskbar/hide icons/black wallpaper/move browser window paranoia, which I wanted to ignore, but probably would have succumbed to in the end was a bit much. Now I hope my old Alienware aw3420dw IPS won't die on me, or rather when it dies, that there will be a second generation of OLED monitors around with hopefully some improvements. As for prices, I think they will get better, and this AOC monitor is a step in the right direction. But if one is not an early adopter, one can get pretty good deals with patience even on the expensive ones (for example I actually got the aw3423dw for slightly cheaper than what I payed for aw3420dw 3 years ago...)
