The amount of hype for this game is off the charts. It's gonna be either one of the most successful game launches of all time or one of the biggest failures.

"Rockstar Games has decided to mandate in-office work for its employees starting April" Remember when everyone worked at home on Cyberpunk 2077?....how did that turn out. Glad they fixed it though.

I'm 100% sure there will be no bugs now that they all have to go to work. Right? 😀

If they greatly expand the online tools and options for player-curated-content with REAL ROLE PLAYING, then it will greatly increase the likelihood of existing fans logging in. More people online = mo' money. If they **** it up, it will be the online having everything about GTAONLINE that was bad, like, hacking and unstable gameplay due to a multitude of your not-so-a-typical generalised netcode problems, and people being a pain. Blizzard developers for Overwatch knew they had to focus on two things to be a success for Overwatch, namely:- 1) NETCODE 2) GAMEPLAY And, by focusing on writing brand new netcode for Overwatch, and spending two years tweaking gameplay such as Cone fire size, player movement speed, TTK, TTO by infinitesimally small amounts until it was perfect; they made the gaming equivalent of crack. There is a great talk on their netcode @ GDC here: [youtube=W3aieHjyNvw] Rockstar are kinda unique, on topic: as they have the type of deal with TakeTwo wherein they are permitted to do their own marketing. This would normally be conducted with another team at the behest of the publisher, and may even use external contracts for some of the work, such as video production, interviews with devs, poster printing etc, but, Rockstar are Rockstar and have got full reign on marketing. This is good as it also means they are taking on the cost themselves, so the publisher cannot bill them for doing the marketing internally. There is also the point about not needing to liaise with the publisher much, and just let them get on with the job. With this level of control, I have no doubt they will be massively successful, but do have doubts about their actual graphics engine. It is showing its age, I feel - and the only risk would be making the game look like a DLC for GTAV, because right now it does look like a DLC, but a DLC set in another town, versus a DLC with the same city, just with other characters, like TLATD, or, TBOGT. There is certainly going to be an argument for using their existing engine for toolsets etc, but in my mind, the engine is now nearly 18 years old? (GTAIV) Plus, it most have shown to be problematic as RDR2 and GTAV famously took an obscene number of staff, and hours, to produce. There is one very obvious and clear problem with the graphics, as I think I may have mentioned this before, but it would appear as if they are using LOD, instead of using a triangle rasterizer, which is completely achievable using DX12, Vulkan, Metal, OpenGL with a mesh shader as part of the programming API, which are their target platforms. These API's have been available for several years now. Even Autodesk Stingray re-written for HellDivers2 has got a variant of a mesh shader/triangle rasterizer and RAGE does work within that codeset. Lots of Q's and very little A's, but yaah, the hype is big.

One of my biggest questions is how online is gonna turn out. I've got over 7,000 hours of online play and earned everything honestly while having to deal with cheaters and modders. Is your online character gonna carry over, and if so will the online be a complete mess like it has been until they finally gave the option to create invite and friend online sessions?

Who cares if there are development difficulties? Worst-case scenario, it gets delayed another year or two. A game like this is a huge undertaking - why should we expect perfectly smooth and effortless development? Just such an odd thing to state a rumor about, let alone make a public clarification to assure everything is fine, despite the fact there's no evidence for either.

The commercial success is guarented just on hype alone, the rest will bring even more sales and revenue. In terms of gameplay it`s probably going to be more of the same and people will love it anyway...

I just don`t understand how giant studios like this take so much time to develop a new game, i know modern games aren`t easy to do but still.

Cyberpunk 2077 took eight years to make, had a disastrous launch, became a literal meme, and then still sold over 25 million copies. GTA VI is an order of magnitude larger franchise with an even bigger fanbase. It'll do fine. Even if they release a turd and then polish it later. Besides, they've been using the same formula for decades. People don't want them to innovate. They'll just make it bigger, busier, and then graft some new graphics onto it.

I just hope there's no more jet bikes and built in auto aim anymore these 2 things basically made online unplayable to me completely unfair and broken

Red dead redemption and GTA 5 where good ports ,if we do not count int the San Andreas remaster disaster because it was handled by a 3rd party I want to believe their optimisation would be also good.... But we will see, am I the only one that only cares for the sp of the game and not the mp ? Been , what ? 9 years since I played a GTA ?

No. Most people only care about SP. GTA5 sold 200 million copies. How many of those are playing MP? I never played any Rock Star game in MP (no interest.)

It will be successful no doubt, i won't be one of the poeple who will buy it though.

I'll buy it because I simply love these games. If they kept pumping out story based DLC I could play the likes of GTA or Cyberpunk for the rest of my life. That said, I am most certainly not buying it on release. I'll give it a wide berth for at least 12 months, or until they fix most bugs.

If you have a console capable of playing GTA6 I would reconsider that. Playing the new GTA game on release day along with everybody else is a gaming event and experience like none other.

That is debatable. I have it in my library and haven't bothered to continue past half a dozen missions. Pathetic language and very dirty humor. Not sure what the appeal is for the masses.

It's an immediate gameplay loop that allows someone to get into a car, drive into the distance and crank the stereo - that is hard to do in real life, so it becomes escapism. The higher the levels of despair in society leads to higher levels of demand for escapism. These things are inverted, so that, if in real life everyone had a speedboat and squillions of $'s, the escapism in games would consist of doing numdane tasks, like sat at a computer screen and shuffling paperwork around for 8 hours a day for a pathetic paycheck... What's not to understand?

Okay... sorry for OT but has anybody played OW lately? I wouldn't say their netcode ever was above average for the player... recently they even have a bug where the game's already over, but client's don't even show you that... classic "but I was on cart / point" type of issues where you think you're still playing but... you're not.

I think you're right generally. Especially GTA is like that on consoles... but as they screw over PC gamers since they made consoles their main platform (GTA3 irrc) I, as a PC gamer, no longer follow this particular "call to arms" because... I certainly won't buy a console for this. I believe GTA6 will be a major success commercially. It doesn't even matter what they do on launch, they will just pile up money and shovel it into garbage trucks because people will flood towards any multiplayer part as if it would save their lives, throwing money at R* with both hands for those sweet micro transactions like clothing and ig currency.

I was on launch, is I think my point, in that they knew it had to be 'perfect' for them to get a win, along with the game loops. That was a game I didn't play, because I knew it would be far too demanding on my time. I racked up over 2,000 hours playing TF2...in less than a year (2011) and I honestly cannot think of anything else I did in that year. You do not get the time back, so, I didn't want to repeat it - I played the game in testing mode, and knew it had been almost too well-designed. That game generated in me those familiar feelings that I recognised as pure gaming addiction, so I put the pipe down before it would drag me down to Davey Jones's Locker for another year of my life. So yeah, not wishing to repeat myself, but if you get online working well for GTA6, AND you marry it to solid RP, you will not just get the usual gamers, but RP'ers, too - which is where the really big money is.
