AMD made the right call. That is a relief.

AMD made the correct decision here.

Ray_M just put his foot in his mouth...;) It happens...Of course they would fix it.
RzrTrek
I won't believe it until I see it.

Of course they are gonna do it since many many AMD users on the community forum threatened them with "never buying an AMD graphics card again" . Even if they are gonna fix the issue , i'll keep in mind their attitude (which was basically a middle-finger to the gamers) when i'll have to choose between AMD and Nvidia.

“Well unfortunately we are all humans and someone made a human mistake. I am unable to read and verify everything that any AMD employee posts about our software. Any media can contact me for a formal statement at any time though - none did! ;-)”
Its a problem with lots of website's these days, they publish half a story and after go look up the facts long after that. Better to be fast then to have a properly checked story.

There was absolutely no chance AMD wouldn't fix it. It's just completely absurd what an insane statement their rep made earlier.

So when is this Ray M gonna get fired ? Its not the first (and last) time he spread some bullshit about AMD.

Stable drivers for RX 500 series? (RX 550: my expierence)
(user describes various crashes on his video card)
A - "Your motherboard is 6+ years old and probably needs updated chipset drivers." -ray_m
(What?????)
Q-
Every 15-20 minutes of playing, my screen turns red, why ? (17.12.2, RX480, temp and fans are ok)
A-
"Please refer to the Terms and Conditions for the use of this forum. You have not provided any of the ESSENTIAL INFORMATION REQUIRED WHEN POSTING A QUESTION" -ray_m
(user's question actually does contain most of the info specified, doesn't inquire further on this issue)
Q- Sapphire RX500 series Driver for win8.1

A- Driver support for Windows 8.1 has been discontinued.
(fails to report that win7 drivers can be used AS-IS)
Highly doubt he has some "insider knowledge" about how amd plans to support dx9.
srsly, i dunno why everyone was taking this guys answer like it was a golden egg of secret knowledge.
I dont think so, hes the same guy that said the fury x wont get hbc support because amd isn't going to write driver support for it, he often provides bad, incomplete answers.
ray_m answers include ,
Q- (apu question )How do increase my dedicated memory to about 2gb?
A- "You cannot increase dedicated video memory" -ray_m
(doesn't mention that dedicated memory has no effect for the apu since it allocates memory based on need, which would solve user's misunderstanding, instead leaving him with the same problem)
Q-Can't interact with Radeon Settings

A- "We are not aware of any such issues." -ray_m
(dismisses issue, doesn't inquire)

Games using an older API won't suddenly break when nothing is added to said older API, and if they stopped developing features for DX9(Ex) games, it doesn't mean they'll start crashing on the same hardware they just ran on with newer driver releases; it just means most everything will be identical to the previous driver release. Much the same when they only focus on performance and feature improvements for the newer APIs, DX9 performance doesn't change one way or the other.
So it should reasonable to assume that if something broke, that meant somebody changed how DX9 API calls were being handled, which stands to reason that if they broke it, they must've been trying to improve it.
I am just surprised at how some community rep, basically a glorified forum moderator, says something and everyone takes it as gospel without hearing a confirmation from a Driver Dev. It's not like we can't reach those guys.
EDIT: I realised he must've been mistaken the instant I read his response; I'm just disappointed most everyone else didn't.

There are 2 problems that arose from this situation:
1. Clearly, there are communication issues within AMD. This is a little scary, considering this kind of head-butting of upper management is how Bulldozer came to be.
2. Neither AMD nor consumers should be using Twitter as a basis for official decision making.
That being said, I'm not faulting Guru3D on reporting this, because if AMD were to be so deliberately negligent/lazy, that is worth being aware of.
Regardless, as many people had predicted, it seems this is nothing more than just an annoying temporary setback.

I'm actually surprised to see a company investing their time and money into making a game work that is more than 10 years old. Good customer service I will say.
