they killed HEDT..nobody is going back to Intel, they still have not understood that people who buy HEDT need lanes and cpus that don't burn when used all day long
and unless there's a radical change in motherboards and cpu pricing threadripper pro currently is :
- trash tier overpriced server motherboards
- business only priced cpus
so basically a product that no one else than a company that's going to make lots of money with them will pay....those are not high end DESKTOP
meanwhile you see plenty of people in comments thinking AMD will "of course" make 5000 ryzens live forever with new cpus for the next 10 years.....riiiggght

AMD made dog's poop out of this whole platform in a spectacular fashion. This is why I shake my head when people cite socket AM4 as proof of AMD's long term commitment to the consumer. It was cost effective to keep the same interface. I suppose we should be grateful they didn't bugger it with a signal compatibility fork like they did between x399 - TRX40. Also to note, they couldn't even be bothered to produce at least one Threadripper TRX40 5000 series CPU. A whole motherboard purchase with no upgrade path. AMD can be as bad as Intel.

the threadripper pros are available to consumers, so why bother having two lines?

Maybe you missed the fact that there is still a shortage of rare earths for chip building and maybe it's a reason why they make them available to the consumer and that's why they will be there for the next 10 years, as some of you say.... Who knows!?

Wait... isn't TR PRO basically Epyc server CPUs with higher frequencies and workstation MB?! That's a good thing right?
