If those prices came to my country, I'd certainly grab one. Thats fantastic value.

Clearing Shelves? Maybe next product with same price will perform that much better.

I think AMD does not want to lose any momentum in the market. Personally I don't think they would need to drop price, building a gaming PC with these chips is a massive overkill and I don't expect many would do it. On the other hand, 3900X beats the "new" Intel comfortably in productivity. They probably don't want high shelf stock, with the pending Zen 3 release in a couple of months.

Intel releasing new cpus = Ryzen price drops, who would have guessed. 😛 Competition is great.

Amazon USA 3900x is $419, was $409 yesterday. I expect it to bounce around. Amazon USA 10900k is $799 cheapest, thru outside vender.

£415 cheapest I could find in the UK. That's a great price.

If my X370 board doesn't get Zen3 support, I hope to see another price drop when that series comes out, because otherwise I'll get a 3700X. I'd prefer the 3800X but my board won't safely support the wattage. Biostar has been surprisingly good about updates, often getting out the latest patches as soon as Asus. Even though X370 won't be officially supported by Zen3, there's a [slim] chance I could opt for a 4700X. That being said, if Zen3 is as good as the rumors say and my board won't get proper support, I'm probably going to hold off upgrading until DDR5 platforms come out from both Intel and AMD. It doesn't feel good making an upgrade that is so heavily obsolete and I don't upgrade often, so I'd rather do an overhaul.

Waiting to see Zen3 as well. My 370x board will support 3900x. Money is not a big concern of mine. If Zen3 is what I hope it to be, then I go all new,. If not, the 3900x will more than serve my needs. Some 370x might see a bios update fro Zen3, but that is a long shot.

No, it won't. AMD barely nudged to support 400 series with Zen3, and that with lots of conditions. 300 will be totally unsupported, even the highest end X370 boards. It will be time to upgrade, really. (I have one too, and will swap out CPU+Mobo after Zen 3 comes out, and also buy some PCI-e 4.0 SSD at that time, but until then I'll be sticking with X370, like you) The good part is that I will keep my overclocker-friendly memory ( Micron E-die, so who knows what 4000+ MT/s will Zen3 IMC support ? That will be nice ! )

Seems like competition from Intel also helps AMD buyers. Interesting. Remember that AMD fanboy's 🙂

Price in canada (Newegg.ca) 10900x : 1199$ CAD 3900x: 649$ CAD I know 10900x is better for gaming but my god the price will need to come down by at least 400$ CAD.

I don't think so. I'll grab a 3900x toward the end at it's lowest price point (hoping to eventually grab it at 500$ CAD). It's good enough for at least 2-3 years easily. It will remain a dominant home consumer workstation cpu for a while (my main use case) and will be good enough for my casual gaming very easily. I'll upgrade when DDR 5 and PCIe 4 will be standard. I got no reason to update my x370 mobo for now.

Hahaha my bad forgot about the x series. Hate when companies reuse number like that. Yeah the 10900k is 800$ CAD on Newegg.ca. Makes more sense.
