Q2 results will be quite worse. But I do not exactly see them negatively affect stock price as Zen2 + Navi will be already announced and shown at time of results.

despite current PC trend with AMD which people see more interesting / have better value over intel product still not reflected much into the company , both revenue and income still drop instead growing

Well they don't separate cpu and gpu sales. Quite likely the cpu sales are growing nicely but the gpu sales dropped off the edge of the cliff with the death of crypto mining.

That's because current AMD's GPU product line is practically EoL and around for too long. On gaming GPU front AMD either has Polaris which is objectively now entry-level gaming product. Or Radeon 7 which is not gaming product. It is productivity oriented card where it has value. In between there is Vega 56/64 which have neither good price to performance ratio as Polaris. Nor productivity ability of Radeon 7 due to limited amount of VRAM. CPU side suffers from CPU benchmarks done practically only with top-end GPUs at low resolutions such GPUs are rarely used with. As such AMD looks less attractive even while in reality someone buying cheaper AMD's chip and spending more on GPU as result gets higher fps. (This hinders "market growth", but CPUs are reason why AMD is in black numbers this Q.) = = = = As always, should one get RTX 2070 + 9900K or RTX 2080 + 2700X? Even on 1080p, one is better with later. But CPU benchmarks will make 9900K so much more attractive.

These numbers are somewhat meaningless since neither Matisse or Navi have been released. Give it time.

Makes sense in a way, only new GPU's AMD has put out are the 590 and Radeon VII, both being based on core technology already released. As far as Ryzen goes, everyone that wanted Ryzen or a good chunk at least has already bought into it.

I doubt anyone remembers, but 2 quarters ago, in the light of NVDA and cypto-GPU sales crash, a certain guru here called out Jensen for "throwing AMD under the bus". Not going to search who it was, you can come forward if you wish 😉 Anyway... I thought that comment was super funny on its own right. Like, we all know Jensen is a grand wizard, but still...Either AMD has been aff[li/e]cted with crypto fallout, or it hasn't - in which case no amount of Jensen's hand waving or badmouthing is going to accomplish anything. Now, two quarters later, with AMD saying that their _next_ (!!) quarter will still be feeling the crypto burn, the idea of Jensen throwing AMD under the bus back then, is pure gold 🙂

That would be me 😀 And FYI, I still stand by those words. Huang's statements did a number on AMD stock - the difference is that AMD has largely recovered while NVDA is still in the gutters. I am still angry at Huang for deceiving investors and thought it inappropriate that he would try to drag down others with him (one of the many signs of his immaturity as a CEO). The crypto crash basically destroyed the value of Nvidia's stock while AMD is still going strong. Perhaps I'm just bitter about losing so much money, but I felt slighted that he would try to distribute blame instead of owning it.

Well that makes no sense: distributing blame I mean. We know he's a wizard, but how would he even do that? My point is he couldn't throw them under the bus even if he wanted. No1 gives a fuk what competition says about you. Whats more, if proven false - it backfires (poor Volta) Crypto crash was a public knowledge, with both companies paying their own exposure, no more, no less, Huang or no Huang. AMD is still quoting crypto and is blaming it for the outlook 3 quarters down the road. Thanks for reporting in 🙂

Well, I can fit into average Joe investor's shoes. And if this average Joe hears: "Joe, that company you investing in just did something stupid and it is going to affect them badly. We both know that there is only one competitor and they did not do same stupidity. Let's move our investments there." => This would result in drop of 1st stock price and raise of 2nd. Or average Joe may hear: "Joe, that company you investing in just did something stupid and it is going to affect them badly. But guess what? Their only competitor did exactly same $h*t. So what are we going to do now as we want to keep our investment in this specific industry?" => This would result in smaller hit of 1st stock and small decline or flattening of 2nd.

Whether it worked or not is not the point. The fact is, he tried to make it seem like AMD was in the same boat as them. It's now apparent that the value of Nvidia stock was hyper-inflated because of cryptos while AMD wasn't. AMD is now close to where they were before the crypto crash while Nvidia is still struggling to recover (lackluster RTX sales hasn't helped).
