Radeon Software Crimson Relive Drivers Will The R7 240 Be supported by this driver when released? I'd upgrade to a newer card, but can't afford it as yet, plus would need to upgrade the Power Supply first in my system, then find a card that would fit in my case and such.

I dont feel left out as gcn1.0 user. Some limitations is to be had. Even though 7970 is still put acceptable performance, card is old we should not be expecting much.
You seem to be the only one who understands this.

... This is amusing.

Pretty sure it's supported by the driver itself - but there are certain features, like Wattman, that won't support it.

it seems that they hired nvidia dudes to do the slides niiceee. :eyes: anywayyy cant wait :infinity:

I used AMD drivers since 2011. Never had a problem with a game so far.

I don't get the crying about GCN 1.0. Whatever our cards can support in hardware (Relive, Chill etc), we are actually getting. The rest is Freesync/HDR stuff that came out years after our cards released. I don't actually see them pull another "hardware scalers" VSR crap this time, the opposite I would say.

C'mon VSR support for Ultra Wide!

Can't wait to have a benchmark with this driver to see the performance impact (if any hopefully) when the Chill option is enabled.

Hyped about wattman , no more 3rd party program's! ( I dont like them a.k.a Conflicts ) ! Also Hyped about Recording/Screenshot tool (Again, No more 3rd party program's).

I wouldn't get it either, but no one is crying about it? Amx85 says he feels bad for people but he isn't effected, Undying said he doesn't care, Agonist says Undying is the only one who gets it, despite no one else posting about it. Onna got super defensive in a post in a different thread, but no one mentioned it there either. It's like a bunch of people are getting defensive about something no one seems to care about.

It was in another thread too, so I guess I overreacted. I'm very curious to see if relive has a frame limiter, and how it would work with Chill.

Isn't chill a frame limiter? I vaguely remember using it back in the hialgo/DX9 days and in the game folder/settings you could limit framerate on a per-app basis. It then intelligently clocks the card to maintain that rate, going lower when there is less action on the screen - but that was adjustable too. The tech was cool but it was extremely buggy on some games and it never made it off of DX9 IIRC. I'm sure having AMD's help has allowed them to work on it though.

There is a frame limiter in the drivers already, but it's GPU-based. It helps with power consumption, but not with framepacing, unlike a CPU-based frame limiter like RTSS or RadeonPro. Relive seems to have a proper, CPU-based FPS limiter there. http://i.imgur.com/YbG0enB.jpg Chill is also kind of weird. It seems to be the HiAlgo tech which was adjusting the resolution depending on motion, but they have taken that and they adjust the frame rate instead. It's an interesting idea, although changing the resolution sounds like an even more interesting one to me. Since they have the framework there, who knows, it might work.

Wattman isn't coming for GCN 1.0 aka the HD 7000 cards it seems. I wonder if this is another artificial limitation like VSR was. I don't think Radeon Chill will have compatibility with HD 7000 cards either. I wonder what in God's name is a R9 260? It's supposed to be R9 280. And if that's the cases, R9 280 is GCN 1.0.
I am quite sure it could be done, but... 1st gen GCN users do not need wattman, they need stuck in UVD clocks feature removed. If that is not fixed, they can release as many drivers as they wont, they will be useless to me as long as I dont buy new card which will not be an AMD card.

Interesting features here. Wander how it'll affect my Fury, that thing already declocks itself to maintain 60 FPS without rendering more than it has to, I've got the power slider at -40 or something, corresponds to about a 160 W TDP. The Wattman monitoring will be nice, too.

It can't be done because the cards have only four clock states and no fine graining between them. You would have to give all of them new bioses, and I'm not even sure that the chips and vrms onboard could do it, even with new bioses. The only thing that matters power-wise for GCN 1.0 is that they fix the UVD bug.

That's called vSync. From what it sounds like to me is that if there isn't movement on the screen, it will lower the FPS in order to reduce the load/power usage/temps of the video card. We'll just have to wait and see how it actually works. Right now the only setting I have changed on my 390 is the fan curve. I absolutely hate high temps and would much rather have a bit of extra fan noise to keep the temps nice and cool, even if overclocked. But I only game at 1920x1200 and have not found anything I need to up the clocks in order to maintain 60fps even with settings maxed out (except for shadows, which I prefer medium on most games).
