wouldnt even load couple times.

The power usage is troubling, but overall I think the card is good for the price. As more DX12 games come out it's going to look better then it does now. Plus it seems like it's throttling pretty heavily, even at stock. AIB solutions will help with that.

Pretty happy for AMD with what I'm seeing 🙂
Keeps me feeling optimistic for good things from Vega!

Hmm not that impressive the price wont be 240 or 200$, in here its more than 300$, but the card still good makes 970 and 980 not so relevant

tiny bit faster than stock 970 (1178mhz)
slower than overclocked 970
power draw higher than 1070
power draw higher than most in idle
runs hot
runs loud
great DX12 performance
great pricing (in the UK)
Hmmm. Definitely avoid for me, mainly because of the heat and noise. AIB will be interesting and if they're sub £200, I might be buying one over the 970.
Is there an ETA on AIB cards?

So...319 Euro here in Finland for the reference. That's quite sad, I picked up my 970 for 360 euro year and a half ago. About the same performance for almost same money 2 years later. Sad.
And WTF is up with the powerdraw? Up there with the 1080 with 50% perf...

Congratulations on a well priced card AMD!

Very interesting card if the retail prices are what they´re supposed to be. Performs better than my 970 and shines in DX12 games. Too bad it overclocks like crap. Perfect for the mainstream market.
Also it seems that Nvidia´s cards continue to perform worse than AMD in DX12 and also continue to drop their performance as the resolution increases compared to AMD...
I could be wrong but i think that Nvidia needs to cut the prices of the 1070 and 1080 to better compete against the 480.
Great review as always!

This might actually force some to upgrade to 390. it's faster and costs about the same as a 480 8gb. There's a lot of nice AIB 390 out there as well that will have much better thermals and run silent. Bit of a flop, this.
