Since when did AMD ever care about form factor. They've done nothing but release monstrosity of cards since the 3/4xxxx series. If form factor is contributing to the cards cost, this makes even less sense. Who are they aim this card at? The 3 blokes in Arizona and their friend steve from canada? Its not like amd needs the support 🙄. They could have made this a normal form factor card, sell it for less and made more in sales. This company is a joke.
Pretty much. This card makes no sense for 99.9% of PC gamers. It's overpriced and trumped by so many better options, even from it's own company. People keep talking about it's priced high because of the performance/size. Who cares? When have you ever bought a video card because of the size? Likely never. Why would you care now? When the benchmarks also show less performance than AMD claims (as usual lately) this is going to make even less sense for even the most ardent AMD supporter.

Geez, nothing but whingeing and complaining. If Nvidia released an identical product at the same price the would be nothing but praise lol. However being AMD it will probably perform better in DirectX 12, as well as potentially in Vulkan as well.
Your right but not wrong at the same time because the problem is that AMD is selling a overprice GPU that is aiming at NVidia GTX 970 GPU claim 30% more performance @ $329 more, that is the problem here. NVidia GPU you may pay more but you get your money worth but AMD, you pay a lot for the Fury, Fury X & Nano & in return, a 980 Overclock beat those GPU's @ a lower price. I didn't get the 390x because it's $100 more for 5% to 10% faster. R9 390 you getting more bang for your buck thanks to 8GB of vram & refresh hardware for more overclock room & lower temp & price when R9 Nano you paying $329 more for 30% & Fuji name.

The problem is, theres no reason for this card to cost this much if it is the leaked price. It makes no sense for amd to have made this an itx aimed card when they're struggling to get sales as it is. If the form factor has driven the cost of production up, then amd are as stupid as they appear to be. Why not release this as a normal form factor card, save cost on production with the result of a cheaper card then passed onto consumers. Two of these, cheaper, not only will your system run cooler, use less power, but also out perform the nano. http://www.amazon.com/Gigabyte-GeForce-Overclocked-GDDR5-GV-N970IXOC-4GD/dp/B00OQUMGM0 Also, how many gtx 970 minis have NVidia sold? Yo dog, I heard you like niche on your niche market.

It makes sense if they can't manufacture enough Fiji chips to saturate the market they do have. In that case they would win absolutely nothing by selling them cheaper as the potential new customers would just sit forever in queues. AMD would lose money and gain nothing. No idea if that's the case, though.

Hmmh "you can buy two of these cards with the price of that one" If everyone went that route no one would buy titan x or 980 ti or Fury X or Fury for that matter. 😯 You know 970 being their best competition in ITX form factor means "we can price it the way we want to" even if it is rather non-sensical to do. This could possibly be 500$ card else... Now if the 175w is true. 2x 970 will use almost double of course considering 168w is what that 970 uses in g3d tests. Two of these could probably perform better throttle some in small case as ITX is.

AMD tries to pull a nVidia 😀 Jokes aside - I think, that the chip manufacturing is just too expensive(HBM is still an exotic) and that's why the price is so high(not to mention the expenses for development - they might be still in the red about that despite selling the Fury and Fury X). Uh... I'm still waiting to see what this little guy can do(and for a price cut on both teams 😀 ), but I start to consider waiting for a full system upgrade next year instead of only GPU upgrade now.

And what if it's true? 😉

What? That's a ridiculous thing to assume. A titan x costs NZ$2000, with the 980ti coming in at NZ$1200+. Theres no way id buy either card for that much when I can get two 970s for a NZ$1000 and end up with the same performance for anywhere around $200 - 300 less in the 980ti or 1000 compared to a titan x. $1200+ to play console ports hahahahaa. that's a good one Nvidia!
And what if it's true? 😉
Itll be ok since its AMD 🙄

Well, it is, but I don't want to piss anybody with such categorizations 🙂

It's not ok in my book - doesn't matter which is the company, they shouldn't do this kind of things. I know, that profit is the king in this, but from consumer view point...

:D I was exaggerating a bit. I would also choose two weaker ones even if it would be small risk (sli and cf have their issues at times) vs one powerful.

The cost come from the fact, Its a full Fiji core with 4096SP + full HBM Vram, specifications wise the card is the same as the Fury-X, even higher than the non X version.. Why do you think the cost come from ? from the vapor chamber cooling, the 2 copper pipes ? The normal form factor exist, it is the FuryX and non X version. The only thing outside binning of the chips (low vcore ) is the low core speed for keep TDP really low.. the card have a 1000mhz turbo boost clock, core speed surely average 850mhz highly constrained by temp ( 75°C ) and TDP, push the TDP slider and you will have a FuryX performance wise. .. I will not be surprised to see some version with a dual bios ( 175W, and unleashed one ) This is an High end gpu with a 600mm2 core and 8.9M of transistors who align 8.1 Tflops on the balance, in a small form factor, nobody ask to compare it with low end gpu used in general for iTX or HPC .

42dbA library? 42dbA???????? That's awful library or people in it. And so much heat released into tiny pc case will cause problems, lcs is a must.

so everyone thinks its going to be priced lower then the rumor?i say 550usd for the few hundred they are making jajajajajaja

Geez, nothing but whingeing and complaining. If Nvidia released an identical product at the same price the would be nothing but praise lol. However being AMD it will probably perform better in DirectX 12, as well as potentially in Vulkan as well. The lack of HDMI 2.0 from a gaming perspective is really a non-issue. To make use of it you would need computer monitors that are very expensive but limited in choice, and pointless for 4K under what, 40 inches? Which doesn't matter since even the Nano isn't fast enough to drive 4K. Having to turn any setting in game below the maximum so you can play the game completely defeats the purpose of it. First cards to make sense having HDMI 2.0 will be the AMD Greenland GPUs and Nvudia Pascal. Commenting on drivers is just old, from NVIDIAs position with Windows 10 drivers and DirectX 12, especially with SLI, isn't that more of an issue than the lack of HDMI 2.0, something that is hardly beneficial until the next generation of cards?
I agree with most but come on a amd dx12 bench is all we have seen for dx12 performance so lets wait on that ....might be right but who knows

Funny thing is I'm pretty sure I can fit a FuryX in the SFF case.
Exactly my thoughts lol.

We should have had DX12 update for ARK last Friday. Got delayed for 'no-reason'. I really wonder how does Kepler vs. Maxwell vs. GCN change in performance while moving from DX11 to DX12.

Nano look is very cool. The name Nano is cool too! It's a very attractive card really.
